Early April I saw a picture of me posted on Facebook and realized I had hit rock bottom. There was not much I liked about the person in the photo. Fortunately, my sister does not take no for an answer and shortly after I started a partner competition at Iron Tribe to kick myself into shape. It hurt, everything hurt! My thighs, shoulders, even fingers! But day by day I got stronger, had more endurance, became more confident, made good decisions and untimely looked forward to the workouts (even at 6am).
What I expected was to be intimidated, weak and embarrassed in front of others at the gym. What I found was a collective community out to accomplish individual goals, but supporting and encouraging each other along the way. There is no judgement on how heavy your weights are, or how fast you finish, or how many double unders you can do. There is only encouragement to be a better you.
So today, at the end of week five, I am a better stronger me in so many ways. My kids saw me committed to be a being a healthier mom and were my cheerleaders, my husband pulled double duty so I could be there early AM and after work, my sister held me accountable and was my partner pushing me to keep going, my work partners met me in countless hotel gyms on the road to do the workout of the day and the coaches (Evan, Alex, Justin, Mark, Brannon) made me feel welcome, made me stronger and motivated me to keep going.
It’s not just the workout, it is the community, the coaches and the competition. Every high five, “you can do this”, “get it Corinne” and “keep going” kept me motivated and kept me accountable to finish. It’s now week 5 and I feel better in so many ways – not just the weight, but I am stronger inside and out and committed to keep going. Iron Tribe made a difference and I can’t imagine stopping now. I have so much more to accomplish to make me a better Corinne and I know the coaches and Tribe will be there with me along the way! Life gets busy and I can make every excuse not to show up Now, I want to show up and...
Read moreWell Iron Tribe, where do I begin? Well first let me say I'm glad I had a friend recommend you guys. A year and half ago as my body was spiraling out of control, I had picked up a friend to go to a Panthers game. As we were passing Iron Tribe he pointed it out to me and stated, it was his gym. After listening to me complain about my body and the unwanted weight I had gained he said go in and talk to Evan. That next day I stopped in and walked out having made truly one of the best decisions of my life.
We have had a lot of new faces in the gym as of late. The one thing most of those faces all have in common is a look of fear on them. Like, am I really getting ready to try this. I recognize that look because I was once there too. That look doesn't last long though. You start seeing those same faces as that look of fear has changed to one of determination, boldness, gratification, or accomplishment.
The coaches help pinpoint weaknesses and help find a way to overcome them. They are extremely encouraging and knowledgeable in their craft. The people at Iron Tribe are unbelievable. The since of comraderie that you develop and the bonds of friendship that are made make it unmatchable. In every class you attend there will always be somebody better than you that you can strive to be as strong as or as fast as. Likewise there is also always going to be somebody that you can help pull along.
If you are looking for a new gym or simply needing to get started. Don't hesitate to give Iron Tribe a try. It could be life changing, it has been for me. #itfclt...
Read moreI wasn't sure what to expect when I signed up for the Iron Tribe Spring Partner Program. Several of my friends are members and each of them raved about the workouts and the community at Iron Tribe. Suffice it to say, they were right. From the first workout, the coaches have been nothing but supportive. I really enjoy the format of the workouts. Each workout starts with a group warm-up, progresses to the coaches explaining the workout with tips for how to ensure proper and correct technique, and then proceeds with a 20-30 minute workout that is challenging, yet approachable. Additionally, for someone who has not worked out much recently, the coaches are always able to provide suggestions for different movements if I need to scale a portion of the workout. I've also been genuinely impressed by the community at Iron Tribe. Everyone pushes each other to do their best without any of the macho mentality that I've seen in other gyms. The best part about Iron Tribe is how the group workout format challenges me daily to be physically active and work on my well being. This has helped me to lose weight, gain strength, and generally feel better throughout the day. Iron Tribe is a great place to get in shape with great...
