l don’t know what’s happened to this place but ever since the new hires.. (completely new staff) the quality of service, and overall approach has gone to the pits! We’ve been attending swim classes for over a year now but due to the constant changing of faces (instructors) l have found myself growing more and more nervous about re registering my kids to this facility. After seeing how the new “instructors” operate(attitudish and picky as to who they would prefer to tend to) My decision to never return has finally been reached. They are very inexperienced as l have seen previous instructors manage and conduct classes more efficiently with much more challenging techniques that have proven to increase the students’ skills. Hopefully this center will consider replacing this last bunch with professional knowledgeable and caring people who actually like children and appreciate their jobs, vs college students who appear to only be in It to sport a bath suite. Extremely disappointed as l have had great experiences with ms Daley. Greatly saddened by...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Marion Diehl Recreation Center for a while now, and it truly is one of Charlotte’s hidden gems! The facility is spacious, clean, and offers something for everyone — whether it’s swimming, working out, pickleball, walking trails, or fitness classes. The water aerobics and pool programs are especially great, and the instructors are not only knowledgeable but also make the classes fun and encouraging.
The staff is always welcoming, and there’s a great community feel here. I also appreciate how affordable everything is — day passes and the MeckPass make it really accessible. It’s a great place for seniors, families, and anyone looking to stay active without the big gym crowds.
Only small downside is that the gym doesn’t have air conditioning, which can make workouts a bit tough during the hotter months. But the variety of programs, clean environment, and supportive atmosphere more than make up for it.
Highly recommend if you're in the Charlotte area and looking for a quality, community-centered...
Read moreI pulled both my children out of swim lessons due to the instructor, Laura’s difference of attitude towards my children. She always treated my son (6 y.o) with a lack of enthusiasm and patience. It got so bad that I pulled him out in the middle of class. They were disorganized, understaffed, and the pool was over crowded that day. Her attitude that day was particularly off-putting, I had enough.
Make sure you pay attention to your children when they’re being taught. Staff is sometimes inattentive, especially the the junior lifeguards they sometimes have teaching toddlers. I watched my daughter get told to swim the end of the pool. Both instructors turned their backs before making sure she got out safely. Her being confused, she swam back to them. They looked shocked...
