Mr. Martinis Tree Farm — Attraction in Charlotte

After Mr. Jack died, operational control fell to his incompetent grandson, Casey. After purchasing a small order of trees, the installation problems began. We had scheduling problems immediately, trees installed improperly, and two that were dying on arrival. Casey lied throughout this process, made excuses, and instantly blamed us for the issues with his scheduling. When the installation finally occurred, two of the trees appeared brown in their centers and I was told that it was normal. One tree died near instantly, despite the water it was given. I was told,by Casey, without him seeing the product firsthand, that it was my fault that the trees had died. Logically I told Casey that if all the other trees were healthy, how could the dead ones be my fault. More communication issues ensued, and replacement was only carried out with threats of a lawsuit. I contacted the BBB. Again lies, scheduling problems, and inconsistency to get one tree replaced, and he wanted to charge me for it. So much for a warranty. The other employees repeatedly apologized for his naive business practice and I finally got one tree replaced. At the time, they thought with care the second tree might make it. We did our level best, but this tree has also perished. When we contacted Casey again, he promised he would come the next weekend to replace it, but never showed. We have called and wrote him for months now with no answer. Finally caught him on the phone again, and he denies the offer (even though we recorded him when he did so. He twisted his words, got caught in multiple lies again, and blamed us for the issue. Again I told him I was suing. Then he offered to take half of the blame and install the tree for half price even though minutes before, he denied any responsibility! Now, as a result of his intolerable attitude, they have a lawsuit on his hands. I feel sorry for Mr. Jack (God be with him) and the rest of his family. The location does not have someone staffed during the day, so we were unable to look at any of the trees that they had available. Upon calling, they tell us that they could meet us there to show us their trees but it would be a while as they were busy at someone's house. That was fine, but after back and forth emailing with Casey, we had picked out our tree and scheduled stump grinding along with tree planting. I had given my address twice already along with phone number twice. I receive an email from Casey saying the crew was at my house and didn't know which tree to grind. I was at my house all day, looking out the window and promptly responded that no one was at the house and to have them call me. I never heard anything back that day, the next day Casey apologized that the crew got the wrong address and we rescheduled. There was a lot of rain that week and we had to reschedule once more, Casey said I would get a time estimate later that afternoon for the next day. I never got a time confirmation and replied that if it didn't happen the next day (I had taken off work and planned my day around it) to just not even come to do the work. Needless to say, I never got any sort of response, no apology, and no one showed up at the house the next day. Terrible customer service along with awful planning skills. 5/23 UPDATE: Casey at Mr. Jack's worked with me to schedule and install my replacement trees, along with a couple of new Crepe Myrtles, and all look beautiful and are thriving so far!! It took a while to link up on scheduling, but once the team arrived, they knocked out the project with professionalism and ease. They also answered all of my questions and gave feeding/fertilization recos to help me understand the best care, specific to my yard and sun exposure.

The new Technys (Arborvitaes) are great privacy trees. Mr. Jack's definitely has the absolute best selection around, and I encourage everyone to go check out their farm display and get your new trees scheduled to be planted ASAP!!
