Heritage off-leash dog park It's probably one of the areas best parks especially for those who are around the East Brainerd and Hamilton Mall area.
They have a large dog and a small dog side and it would benefit those two adhere to those guidelines when choosing which side to take your dog, especially for the first time.
The park itself is quite great including the number of regulars who go there relatively frequently, almost daily. Although there is no official monitor of the off-leash dog park, either for dogs or humans, most of the regulars have stepped in that role plenty of times and keeps the park operating quite smoothly most days and takes care of both dog squabbles and human squabbles pretty well.
Keep in mind that dogs will be dogs and dogs have their own language and it is up to the owners to be able to interpret that language correctly and keep their dogs in control or remove them from the park for a period of time until the challenging behaviors subside.
Overall we will continue taking our dog to this park as long as we live nearby and I even know quite a few people who live outside of the East Brainerd and Hamilton Mall area who still take their dog to heritage off leash dog park because it's one of the larger ones around.
Come! Join in on the fun!
Just don't check out mentally when you arrive because this is not one of those types of "bring your dogs and let everyone else babysit them" situations.
Keep an eye on them. Be aware of where they are and how they are behaving at all times and you should be good.
If you want a place where you can check out mentally take your dog to Play Wash Pint where there are paid staff members whose literal job is to watch your dog while you get to check out and even have a beer.
This is not that place.
Please don't...
Read moreEvery so often a sign will be posted at the entance that this dog park is going to undergo renovations etc but nothing really changes. Still, too many piles left behind by owners who are too busy looking at their phone, trying to flirt with other dog owners or pontificating to anyone who will listen to their vast endless knowledge of dogs. Plenty of room, and running water available during the hot months make this one of the better parks in the area though. You have to watch out for owners who think it's appropriate to bring their ultra aggressive dogs in and do nothing when their pooch terrorizes the other dogs. They will also be the first to lose their mind when it's their dog who is on the receiving end of any such aggression. I think we can all agree that there are certain dogs that just shouldn't be allowed inside the dog park because they do just not play well with others. It's all fun and games until your dog is attacked. This has happened more than a few times. Fix these few issues and it's a much...
Read moreAbsolutely love this park. Take my two pups and my Granddog as often as I can. They have made so many friends, I love it when they recognize one another and get excited. Only issue I have is that the doggy teeter totter needs to be either removed or fixed. Sometimes kids play on it and it's not safe currently. So if you bring your children into the big dog side please don't let them play on it as it's a danger to both themselves and any dogs nearby. Other than that I just wish the creek by the entrance ran through the actual dog park. Mine love the water as do so many others, but at least it's close. I have met so many great doggos and their owners in the almost year we've been going. I do have to give one shout out to Balto and his parents Sierra & Evan. It was by random that I saw pictures of my pack on here and a review which in turn lead me to leave a review as well. So come on out and join us fellow dog lovers. #DogsBecausePeopleSuck 😆 jk well kinda but...
