My husband and I stumbled upon this place in Chehalis while looking for something fun to do for my daughter's 10th birthday this weekend. We made the reservation online for the 3pm Party slot and attempted to purchase 5 magic portal passes which is what we thought the escape room was under. The online portal first wouldn't let us purchase more than a couple and the system told us the product was unavailable.
I contacted the owner to verify how we could square away our order today Thursday night after noticing the error messages. The owners, Guy and Tessa were so quick to respond the next day! When I called them, Tessa was super sweet to explain that the Magic Portal was their escape room option that was broken and she had refunded what was processed for that order. She set us up in a different escape experience and offered it to us an hour before our party time, which they also moved up on our behalf to make things easier on us!
The Escape Experience was fun! We did an adults verses kids challenge and it was unique! The owner made the puzzles himself and he did a really great job with them! The cost was $50 for 4 people to do the escape room but they charged additional for 6 of us to complete it so myself and grandma didn't have to miss out.
The party room was pretty cute, very clean, they asked if we needed plates cups, silverware and the nine yards which was super nice.
The pizza is made homemade there and is BOMB. We all really enjoyed it! We got the Pepperoni, basic cheese, and Meat Lovers. Sodas came in a 2 liter bottle. The staff provided us with a knife for the cake if we needed it which was really helpful and kind of them.
The staff was ON POINT. Both women who welcomed us were so nice and very accommodating! Because we were such a small party they allowed us to go through the mini golf experience twice!
The Mini Golf Experience was SUPER cute inside!! The art was SPECTACULAR!!! However, I think there needs to be some sort of system that allows one maybe two families to go at a time or a pace management system that enables individuals to start putting after the players have moved up at least a couple of courses ahead of them. Other people got to be too pushy, rude, and impatient discouraging some of our players from playing the full course the second time around because the family behind us was going too and were expecting us to do the same thing. But that is something that can't be on the shoulders of the staff, that I understand. But perhaps like a stop sign or some sort of timer at certain check points in the course could help space out groups so no one feels rushed or pressured - no one needs any Happy Gilmores on the course LOL.
After we did the Mini Golf experience, the kids focused on the arcade games which are always a hit for our family. The fact that the birthday packages came with tokens was incredible! The kids played their hearts out until our time was up. The party's last event was that the Birthday rockstar gets to put their hand print on the wall with their name, that was fun!
What set our experience apart was Guy / Mr. Twister's hospitality at the end. He shook our hand, his gratitude was authentic and genuine and you could tell he is very proud of the establishment. He made sure that we had an excellent experience and made sure that we knew we were welcome.
The establishment also had clean bathrooms which was a HUGE plus for a family...
Read moreI had a dual birthday party for my 5 year old son and my 12 year old sister-inlaw. We had 30 people! Everything started out great when we first got there and the employer in the beginning shift was very patient and I thank him for also being very understanding that our party was late. (due to our car breaking down and others getting lost) We live over an hour away from Olympia. He simply said do not worry and there are no other parties booked and to take our time. But it is sad and extremely disappointing to say that this awesome party did not end so well once the owner covered the shift. When I gathered the group to do the mini golf the owner's tone right away was cold, impatient, and snotty. He confused himself on counting who went in what groups and how many. Tried to blame it on me. I told him he needs to be patient. quoting his words back to me he says, "It's not my fault you don't know how to get your own group together" he even got even more upset raised his voice to my guests and pulled everyone back out to re-count the groups. I tried to keep calm, be patient with the guy and defuse the situation but he insisted on making smart-alick and very rude nasty comments back. example: "I can just kick everybody out now if I want to." "People like how I am and the way I run this place and how I handle things. So I must be doing something right since King 5 news said we were one of the top picks for best northwest escapes." "Maybe mini golf isn't for you and your people, it's really not that complicated." I just bit my tongue for the kids so they could hopefully just have some fun with the mini golf and leave. Which they did even after this guys crazy melt down. Then what really broke the camels back is when my sister-inlaw had won the game out of her group and she innocently went up and asked if there were prizes for winning. He tells this 12 year old girl in a condescending voice, " I don't know what you were thinking, we don't give out prizes?" After that he had complaint after complaint from all of the adults at my party. We were all appalled by such behavior especially since it was the OWNER. Us adults didn't even finish our game that we paid for individually because we were all so stunned by his behavior and the nerve talking to a 12 year old girl like that, let alone it was her birthday party is just not acceptable. Horrible customer service on the Owner's part! Cool idea, fun to play glow golf / 3D but not worth 4 star rating he's got for such poor attitude. That needs...
Read moreDon’t be fooled… the birthday packages appear themed but they are not. No matter the price… the room is plain and sad. No decorations except for a bunch of handprints that look like turkeys from kindergarten art. Nothing is decorated at all. Just brick walls. I called ahead and asked if we needed to decorate and was told no. All that was provided was a blank room and three tables with cheap blue tablecloths. I asked for the jungle or ocean theme that I had paid for and they said there was no theme. It was just the name of the package. This was the saddest party experience ever. The pizza was so bad. Too much cheap cheese and not cut at all. It tasted like bad Chuck E. Cheese pizza. But old. When the woman who worked there came to talk to me she bumped my son and he split his chin on a chair. She kept talking over his crying without asking if he was ok. I had to ask her to stop talking at me until he stopped crying. It was embarrassing to me and my guests and the way she kept coming in to discuss price and when we had to be out of the room. It was terrible. When we went to play golf she yelled at the kids they had to sing and open presents first. It was really weird it was like she was the boss of the party. Also they have no ATM for the arcade and if you want to get cash from the register they charge a 20% fee on the cash you get out. When they finally allowed us to golf, even though we paid for priority golfing, they gave us 8 balls and announced really forcefully we could play ONE TIME ONLY… and that the kids had to wait for others to hold first. So weird. It was just a really bad experience and the lady was curt and the room was sad and ugly brick. Maybe it was nice at the other building before they moved but this place was sad and empty and the experience was bad. The weirdest thing is that the golf course although small and without a place to walk without stepping on the course was painted really cool. You would think something could have been done with the party room to reflect the “theme” advertising on the website. Super disappointed. Should have just gone to Insert Coin. This is a cool idea but really executed and...
