At first i liked the selection. And the staff answered all my questions and since i had so many i really thought they were knowledgeable. I was in search of parsley and dill but later in the season so it was getting hard to find. I told them i needed it to feed the 60 black swallows caterpillars in my caterpillar farm. Every day all the (16) kids on my block would come over in the am to feed them. Some were SOOOO excited to see some more butterflies emerge from thier chrisalys (can NEVER spell that word) because they hadn't seen the other30 or so come out. It really is the coolest thing ever. (I have some going into the crysallis and coming out on YouTube of you wanna see it-magical) So you can only imagine how devastated i felt when i went out to see the kids FREAKING OUT at all the caterpillars dying. One of the girls had a medicine syringe filed with water and was trying to get her favorite one to drink bc she thought it may help. I can understand why she thought that way because the cat had vomit on its mouth. All the cats that were still alive were writhing around and were barfing. Some were popping thier lil red smelly antennas in and out at a rapid rate. It was awful. It turns out that Primex uses A TON of pesticides. Like the heavy duty ones-bc, according to the person i spoke to, without it they would never be able to keep the caterpillars off the plants. So i said to him "but i told the guy it was TO FEED caterpillars. Why didn't he tell me?" His answer: not everyone needs to know and i must've asked the wrong person. I told him i asked someone wearing a green Primex shirt that can talk and can hear so why didn't he know? He didn't know what i meant so i explained to him that if ever ever ever a customer sees someone in the primex shirt and had a question they will ask. So every person that's given that shirt that can talk and can hear AND is ever visible to people in the store should know that you use such a strong pesticide. He asked me if i wanted a refund. I told him i thought it was more disgusting than murdering my caterpillars that he would have to ask. Then i asked how much of a refund would i get. He said whatever i spent on the dill (since i still had the parsley and this jerk would only refund the parsley if i brought it back to the store). I spend $348 at Primex that day...$35 on a plant the rest between the parsley and dill. Those cats eat A LOT- they blew threw my whole herb garden within3 days and i had about 60 by then that i had been feeding about$30 wish of herbs for almost as month. The point of this project was for the kids to see them come out AND to see if any come back next year. That project came to an end when i fed my cays his dill and they were all poisoned and died. Not one survived. Was he going to pay me back for ALL the food I had fed them (please understand, I didn't really want him to pay me back for every move I put in a little caterpillar smells. But I didn't like the fact that he didn't give a crap at all what happened to this very expensive project. It was a lot of work. He seemed rritated that I was upset about it). He told me he would refund me $110 but it would take 4-6 weeks bc of the card company he uses. That store is horrible and only out to make money. It must be THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to them and not thier customers. The most offensive part of all this is i never got the refund and my calls were never answered and my vms never returned. This all happened last year...i wanted to see if I got over it before writing a review like this. Bad reviews can hurts a biz and i didnt want o be responsible for that without a good reason. But i DO have agood reason. A great reason. I know there are a lot of great people at that store. But I'm talking about the ultimate end of your hard earned money. Its going to people who seemingly care about little else. Please dont spend your money here. There are too many nurseries inn this area being run by people who would will and have done it for almost NO money to justify lining this...
Read moreGreat place with a good selection. A bit overpriced sometimes, especially for houseplants and gardening supplies. Still, a great place with a good selection of supplies inside the store.
For houseplant, they get a wide selection of standards, with the occasional hard-to-find. Good selection of collectable orchids and terrarium plants. They get quite a bit of standard succulents and cacti, and sometimes some unique sansevierias and draceana. I'd like to see more euphorbia varieties and caudex plants, which you'll rarely see.
Their landscape selection is really good, and they often stock unique or harder-to-find landscape trees, shrubs, and plants. But those go fast, and you have to grab it when you see it. They are good at keeping a stock of the standards on hand. Again, prices can be a bit above average, but their quality is top. Everything is healthy.
The staff are super friendly, especially in the greenhouses. Some of the older office and cash register people inside the store can be gruff or dismissive, but nothing too egregious.
Overall, always a top place to stop in the area, with a constant flow of new stuff during the growing season. Winter is...
Read moreI love this Plant Nursery. I make sure to visit this place at least once in a year. I really love how beautifully this place is set up , its so pleasant , calm , peaceful, creative & colorful. They have wide selection of plants along with a great selection of pots and some plant accessories. I have bought plants belonging to Alocasia family when I was very new to plant care and was not able to protect them for long. The prices at this place are definitely expensive then rest of the garden centers. You can easily find most commonly grown indoor plants like zz, monstera, philodendrons, figs, ficus , snake plant, cactus , orchids and so on for a cheaper price at places like home depot , walmart and Lowes. If you are looking for more varieties and some rare plants , sure you can find some uncommon plants which are really gorgeous and it comes to ones own interest if you would like to spend that kind of money or not. But for sure I would highly recommend the plant lovers to visit this place at least once. I only wish that they rethink about their prices and make it...
