We had our wedding over Memorial Day weekend this year and choosing a caterer when you are given SO many to choose from and never trying ANY of the food before doing so is more difficult than it sounds. The food you serve at your wedding leaves a lasting impression and is the most talked about (other than the venue) by your guests. I come from a large Italian family who loves food, so ultimately, there was more pressure finding the right caterer lol! We decided to go with Seedling and Sage and I'm SO happy we did! Not only is the food out of this world and everyone raved about it during and after the wedding, but Maria and the "Captain" and ALL of the staff were extremely hands on, ensuring everything went smoothly. They also have options as to what you can do when it comes to how you want your guests served, whether they are served by seedling or you do a buffet style, we chose to have our guests served. The BIGGEST deciding factor when it came to Seedling was the fact that they are farm to table. This was huge for my husband and I because of how we eat daily, so that was a nice perk that none of the other caterers we explored offered. Even the displays were absolutely beautiful and well crafted. The pricing was EXTREMELY FAIR which was shocking to me, I was finding caterers who weren't as appealing, were farm to table that were higher in price and didn't offer desserts. Seedling was one of the FEW caterers that offered dessert, you will be surprised how many caterers don't offer dessert, you end up spending even more with a baker. Maria was able to help us decide exactly how many desserts we should have for the number of guests we had without overspending. Her honesty was much appreciated throughout the entire process, she tells you if what you want is too much or not enough. ALSO they offer a HUGE charcutier board that comes with your cocktail hour at no extra cost, which was another amazing perk! It was the most beautiful charcutier board I have ever seen. While I know planning can be overwhelming and tiresome and it feels like decisions need to be made quickly and a Brides number one worry is "am I making the right decision? what if this isn't the right choice, what if some of the negative reviews are accurate?" for every single vendor you encounter, so if you are hesitant about the Caterer to choose, if you are stuck, take my word for it, Seedling WILL NOT disappoint in all aspects! Also, just a word of advice for Brides and Grooms deciding, every caterer you contact will try and push you to sign with them, they will tell you that you need to book ASAP because couples are booking their weddings a year out, and they are already filling up for the following year, and they cant hold dates, blah, blah, blah; Maria is the only caterer that did not hound me for a decision. She didn't pressure me into a decision and was very patient as we navigated through the overwhelming process until we reached out to her again. If a caterer pressures you, my advice would be to look elsewhere, because you'll feel pressured throughout the whole process if you are feeling pressured before the process has really even started. Thank you, Maria, you helped calm my nerves throughout the entire day and you were in constant communication with me, more so than any one else. Your service, empathy, hospitality and ability to ease nerves and stress during the busiest day of a Bride and Grooms lives was comforting and extremely appreciated! You and your team truly...
Read moreYou don't have many catering options when hosting a wedding at the Morris Arboretum. Seedling and Sage seemed like the better of the five options we were given to choose from. The food is standard in quality for banquet food. However, there were several off-putting aspects of our experience working with them.
First, we had to constantly be on top of our assigned planner to set up meetings and correct several errors in our BEO despite several emails with clear instructions on selections and preferences.
Second, we paid them $300 to set up a ceremony table for us (with photo and video instructions), and they in turn made my mom not only set up the whole thing without help, but also clean it up afterwards; this was so disrespectful towards my mom and a complete waste of money. This led to the entire reception falling massively behind schedule as my mom was late for her dance with us.
Third, they were not timely with serving food and desserts to our guests. There was a period of time where only one side of the reception tent had received their entrees and the other half had nothing on their tables; even our photographers noticed and commented on how disorganized it was. After our cake cutting, we had given them instructions to take the cake back and cut it to serve to guests. This did not happen until after the dance floor opened up, the cake had been sitting out for a long period of time, and I finally grew restless and went to the back kitchen to ask staff to take it back for cutting and serving.
And fourth, they tried to send an email to us a few weeks before our wedding stating that they were changing their gratuity policy and were going to increase the charges for our wedding despite a previously signed contract stating otherwise. We had to threaten legal action and get the Morris Arboretum team involved for them to abide by our original contract. Overall, an unpleasant experience with this catering company and I cannot in good faith...
Read moreSeedling and Sage catered our backyard wedding, and we cannot speak highly enough of their exceptional service, delectable dishes, and the overall culinary journey they provided. From the first tasting to the last bite, they exceeded our expectations.
The planning process was a breeze with Annette’s help. She worked closely with us to design a personalized menu that perfectly reflected our tastes and preferences. Her attention to detail and creativity resulted in a beautifully decorated atmosphere.
On the big day, the entire team displayed the utmost professionalism and efficiency. They seamlessly coordinated the setup and ensured that everything ran smoothly, allowing us to focus on enjoying our wedding without any worries.
The presentation of the food was both visually stunning and appetizing. We were particularly impressed with Seedling and Sage's commitment to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, which elevated the quality and taste of the dishes even further. The use of seasonal produce added a delightful touch, and our guests appreciated the farm-to-table experience (my favorite corn on the cob, was our seasonal side).
The staff members were courteous, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that all our guests were well taken care of. The level of service they provided truly made our wedding reception feel like an intimate and extravagant dining affair. Seedling and Sage undoubtedly contributed to the overall success of our backyard wedding, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
If you're looking for a catering company that will elevate your wedding with an exceptional dining experience, we wholeheartedly recommend Seedling and Sage. Thank you, Seedling and Sage, for making our wedding a truly delicious and...
