My partner and I had the most delightful experience yesterday at this serene park! It was an absolute gem hidden amidst the bustling city, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.
The park's centerpiece, a stunning lake, instantly captured our hearts. Its brilliant blue waters mirrored the surrounding lush greenery, creating a picturesque scene that felt straight out of a postcard.
The 1.5 mile path encircling the lake was an absolute joy to explore. The trail was well maintained, and we were impressed by how clean and well-kept it was. Walking hand-in-hand, we soaked in the beauty of nature while enjoying a leisurely stroll. The path was easily navigable, and we felt safe and comfortable throughout our entire visit.
It was wonderful to find benches strategically positioned to offer stunning views of the lake. We spent many moments just sitting and admiring the peaceful surroundings. These spots were perfect for relaxing and reconnecting with nature.
we also appreciated the outdoor exercise equipment dispersed throughout the trail. It was fantastic to see the park promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. We took advantage of the equipment and had a blast incorporating some exercise into our visit. It added an extra layer of enjoyment and made our time there even more fulfilling
We left feeling rejuvenated, grateful, a little hungry, and already planning our next visit. Thank you to the park management for creating and maintaining such a fantastic space for everyone to enjoy. We can't wait to return and make more...
Read moreMy wife and I go for walks there often, for exercise and to walk our dog. There is a picnic area and play ground with enough equipment to support the largest of families. They have sheltered picnic tables next to the playground so it is easy to supervise the little ones. The lake is stocked with bass, sunfish, catfish and I have been told crappie. The path around the lake is shaded for most of it's 1.5 mile length, well marked and wide enough for all users. Walking, running, bike riding along with pets on a leash,(no longer than 6 feet in length), are allowed. There are several piers around the lake for fishing, watching wildlife and operating radio controlled boats. This is a fantastic place for people with disabilities or health issues to go for a walk or to exercise, with it's flat terrain, easy access for wheel chairs and EMS vehicles with close proximity to Chesapeake General, it gives us older folks some piece of mind. There is an abundance of wildlife for viewing both on the lake and in the surrounding woods, the last time we were there we saw a rare Pileated Woodpecker and also noticed a large number of Mullberry Trees who's berries should be ripe around the end of...
Read moreThis is by far the best park in Chesapeake to take your dog for a walk. One lap around is the perfect distance of just under 1.5 miles. The pathway is very wide and contains small gravel. The views around the entire park are beautiful. You can also go catch and release fishing (do not bring home water is not clean).
Also has a very nice playground for the children. Lots of benches to take a rest as you are going around the lake. There is one pavilion with about 6 tables which could be used for a get together. And also 3 portable toilets, which are usually pretty clean. Please note that the back side of the park backs up against the by-pass so you will hear cars, but it’s not loud at all.
Parking is easy as you can park on the street or in the parking lot across the street from the park entrance.
Please be sure to pick up your trash and dog poop as there are a bunch of trash cans and they usually provide doggie bags at the entrance. You are not allowed to swim or wade.
I highly recommend trying this park out with your dog! Check out...
