The lobster rolls might be palatable, but the price point and sticker shock are not.
Visited on 4/13/2024. My wife’s pregnancy cravings pointed us here for lunch due to this place’s micro-marketing success on Instagram. She went with the CT style and I went for fried (see photo for menu options).
There was some sticker shock when I saw that the total came out to $54, but I have to say I blame myself for not noticing prices weren’t posted. I can appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit, but not posting prices is more along the lines of a Bangkok scam than capitalist startup. Again, still my fault for not noticing.
What I did notice was the follow-up screen prompt for a tip starting at 15%, then 20%, then 22%. Like I’ve said in other reviews, the Steps of Service is not a myth or a rumor, but a real method of delivering exemplary service to customers, and service is a crucial part of the experience; but this is a food truck. Nowhere to sit, you stand in a parking lot for your food, and no drinks to be filled. It also puts the patron in an awkward position where the people cooking their food can see how much or IF they have been tipped.
We started eating our lobster rolls almost as soon as the cashier/cook handed them to us in their styrofoam containers on a windy day. The food was as billed, lobster on bread. Though I’m also salty the butter we received was in a plastic ramekin only about 1/4-1/3 full. So my wife’s was simply bread, lobster, and a lil’ bit of butter. No sides, no drinks. One paper napkin each. My wife loved it, whether it was because of Instagram or the taste I’ll never know because I’m not asking.
Overall, why go get a lobster roll here, when you can head over to Saltine’s and get one for $25 that comes with a side, a water, and the option of to-go or dine-in or over to Green Onion where a lobster roll is $18? Interestingly enough, both places post their prices on their menus.
If this was at Waterside or on the beach in Virginia Beach, we would call it a tourist trap. For some reason it’s avoided being branded a trap and gained legitimacy because it’s parked next to a busy road in a nail salon parking lot. A trap, is a trap whether it is a tourist trap, Instatrap (gramtrap?), or otherwise.
Overall, like so many other startup food places using micro-influencing, this...
Read moreI was out near battlefield blvd today, I looked on google maps for some good food in the area and I came across this place. I’ve had lobster rolls before from other places, but this place is by far the best on the peninsula, excellent service, excellent taste, and I will be going back from now on. I was very surprised on how good the taste of the lobster, buttered rolls, and even how much lobster they put in the roll. Before I even ordered my food I was approached with friendly and good energy, the customer service was great and he was very fast cooking as well, I waited maybe 5 -10 minutes at the most.
10/10 - Was Very...

The correct establishment and contact info is available via their Facebook page (Search for Bobbys Farmhouse Kitchen) so DON’T use this Google result until they correct the entry. We purchased the Connecticut lobster roll and it was delicious! The meat was fresh and juicy. It came with a lemon wedge and a container of scrumptious melted butter. We even got a couple of fried shrimp with delicious sauce! If I could eat this for lunch everyday…I definitely would. It is definitely...
