The docents and other volunteers are outstanding, but don't expect the officers & directors to go much out of their way to do much for you other than grin. The BOT or BOD sets the boundaries & the volunteers carry out the work so far as they can. The society is very pleased with itself and purrs like a kitten. Thankful to have it, yet it could do more. No real thinking outside the box or "open inclusiveness." At least this society is functioning. Many other local historical societies aren't. "B" for showing up. Friendly staff, easily accessible, parking, great location within walking distance of historical features and the wharf area. A lot of resources on site: family history collection, exhibitions, research librarian, and library with elevator access. The website is also very helpful when not able to...
