This place, as an ice center in the State Capital, is just a total disappointment. Morning to do with the staff, they're doing their jobs. More to do with absolutely abysmal Management and planning by the City of Cheyenne, who runs this place like they've never heard of community sports. First of all, it's an ice rink. So why is there only ice from October to March? During the summer they melt the ice and turn it into a roller rink, when there is ALREADY A FAR SUPERIOR ROLLER RINK IN CHEYENNE that has been here since the 80's. Why does the City run Cheyenne ice center want to compete with an existing Cheyenne business, to especially when their product is so much less impressive? Second, by not having ice all year round, they justify almost completely ignoring the youth and adult sports communities like hockey, and figure skating. Every other youth ice hockey league in this state has ice all year round. They host tournaments, clinics, trainings, open skates, camps, guest instructors. They generate LOTS of money for their centers and leagues and the ice rink in the state capital does none of that?? Why? The city flat REFUSES to allow the league to host tournaments even in the winter season. Tournaments generate bunches of money on every other town, why does Cheyenne leadership choose to ignore the league and the children in it, year after year? Why did the local hockey team shut down? Why is there no figure skating? The management of the rink by the City is an utter failure and embarrassment to the citizens who pay the bills with their tax money and have to watch every other Wyoming town with a rink outpace them in...
Read moreThe business people participating were all great! The event was billed as a home and garden show. I saw an ad in Wednesday's newspaper that it started on Friday, but I was unable to go until Saturday. Vendors were there and eager to talk and perhaps to sell. It is usually the kind of crowd where you trip over people. Not this time! This year there were far more vendors than there were potential customers. When I asked vendors, they all pretty much agreed that it must have been POOR advertising. The event was sponsored by a local radio station, who were in charge of renting booth space and collecting fees and advertising. So, good vendors, poorly advertised, and poorly planned. I went Saturday and Sunday afternoon and it could have gone longer in the afternoon. I went both days because I was trying to make some vendors feel a bit better that someone was interested in their wares. Some people won't be returning, they feel ripped off by the radio station, who should have advertised better to draw in the crowds. Some vendors were from the local area, some came...
Read moreAs we travel around the country my wife and I like to stop at places to play pinball. We were here on a Thursday morning about 11. Really nice facility. The ladies working were terrific, they were friendly and happy to help.
The pinball machines were in excellent condition. Often times we find machines that show wear (especially flippers) and sometimes that don't work at all. We played all 13 machines, each one worked perfectly and looked great. The pricing was also impressive, only two machines were $1, the remainder were 25 or 50 cents. Extra balls and matching also worked. We could not remember previously playing Dialed In or Tommy so we were thrilled to find them here. We could not have asked for a better pinball experience.
The facility is bright and well lighted, it also has a small snack bar. The food, prices and service were great.
We were there for a couple of hours and had a...
