My wedding turned out nearly perfect as planned in every aspect except one: MIB Transportation was the glaring weakest link, keeping my guests waiting well beyond our scheduled pickup time multiple times that day. As an event planner for over a decade, I expect vendors to deliver on their promises, especially for something as important as a wedding.
The booking process was already challenging in itself. We booked (read: paid for) the shuttle for 7 hours, but company policy dictates that the shuttle stay on a designated route (maybe it's an industry standard, who knows...), the effective runtime was only 1-1.5 hours collectively. We proceeded anyway since MIB had a 49-passenger bus that could fit our entire group, though from the first call, David repeatedly cut me off while we were mapping out the route. In the coming weeks, I had to call again to make subtle changes and was informed the requests are better received via email. I never got a response back, and had to call back on the week of the wedding to confirm the change requests.
My doubts from the spotty communications were validated on our wedding day. Despite my explicit instructions that pickup was 3:30PM at hotel #1 and 3:40PM at hotel #2, the shuttle sat at our first hotel for 20+ minutes (a guest from hotel #1 mentioned in passing that he thought the unnecessarily long wait was strange). One of my bridesmaids was with me in the bridal suite when she received a text from her husband at 4:05PM that he just boarded the shuttle from hotel #2, 25 minutes past the scheduled pickup. Later, at 9:00PM, Jose the driver was nowhere to be found for the scheduled early return shuttle until my brother-in-law had to track him down.
The delays caused our last drop-off to run late, resulting in an additional half-hour charge (thankfully reversed by their Accounting Team after checking the timestamps on the shuttle's tracking system). Jose consistently failed to follow the timeline I had carefully coordinated with the dispatch team. My hunch is that the schedule and stops were not properly relayed to him.
Having planned other San Diego events with more reliable shuttle vendors, this experience left a sour taste for both me and my guests. The shuttle itself was clean, new and in good condition, and I'll give credit where it's due (thus the 2nd star): the Accounting Team worked with me on the refund, and the 2 Dispatchers following my call with David were much more friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, punctuality is non-negotiable for weddings, and MIB fell short when it...
Read moreAbsolute Nightmare. We had the misfortune of using MIB transportation services for our wedding day. We spent more than $4,000 on several shuttles and we're incredibly disappointed... Never, ever again.... 1) HASSLES: We explained the details of our rehearsal & wedding day shuttles, more than 6 times over the phone, and when we requested them to send it to us in writing, it was incorrect 2 more times, adding so many more hassles to our wedding before it even began, 2) LATENESS: on our big day, they had some kind of inspection which made them 25 minutes late for the groom and groomsmen bus. Not only were we not notified, but the groom called at least 12 times on his wedding day and they were unable to tell him if, or when it would arrive. Then they proceeded to take the route with a road closure, resulting in half of the guests being over an hour late. There is an alternate route. (They deny the tardiness of our guests, however I have proof of this and would never make something like this up). Due to the lateness of the groom bus, my bridesmaid called MIB and was assured that they would dispatch another bus for us so the guests would not be late. This never happened.... 3)PENNY-PINCHING: When our bridal shuttle was 15 minutes late to leave they charged us an additional hour: a $130 fee, but did nothing for us when they made the groom and guests an hour late to our wedding. We had to postpone the ceremony and this substantially impacted our big day and itinerary. After all of this when we contacted management and discussed our concerns they simply did nothing to ensure our satisfaction. The owner was rude to my husband and told us to take him to small claims court. Unless you would like to have to deal with small claims court, I strongly urge you to work with a company that cares about your satisfaction and takes ownership of...
Read moreFor transparency - I was NOT a direct customer of them, but I had a client use them at our facility and was baffled by the rude driver.
I am glad to have experienced that so I'm aware to not use them.
The driver got there about 3 minutes late, came in and immediately began complaining about time restraint because "He couldn't find the place." (Yes, THREE minutes late) He then said "I usually don't even get out of the bus, but I had to walk all the way over here to confirm I was here." He walked across a very narrow parking lot, but made it seem he had to do a 10 mile hike up a mountain. He then complained he couldn't come into the parking lot which only has a row on one side, every time we have ever used transportation services they've parked on the street right next to the entrance of the parking lot. We explained where he parked was perfect and that it's where we always have transportation park to which he rudely responsed "well this is a BUS."
He then started rushing our clients telling them he's going to leave because he's already tight on time. I don't see how 3 minutes could possibly make it that tight unless they're totally overbooking all of their rides.
From a third party perspective, I was embarrassed for the client. I would recommend using another transportation service in the SD area. They're one of the cheapest but there's a...
