After a long night of work my boyfriend was having trouble staying awake while I was there with him working on paperwork. He had the quietest snore that I could barely hear sitting next to him. A man was constantly going and complaining to the staff. After a while of hearing whispering I noticed said man was mocking me under his breath the entire time I was there. Then I overhear the staff saying my bf was “high”. I have never been so uncomfortable and disgusted in my life. I am being harassed by a man who instead of kindly saying something to me kept going and telling on us like a child. Then I hear this man say he doesn’t feel safe or that we threatened him. We didn’t even speak to him. Maybe next time get both sides to the story before making harsh judgments. We never had an issue prior to going there. Staff had seen us there for weeks at this point. I am just glad the security girl listened to us when we told her what the guy had been doing the entire time. I never had such a horrible experience at any library in my life. Funny how loud staff gossips about everyone inside but someone sleeping is the problem? I will stick to the Oak Park library’s where everyone is accepted...
Read moreI like how the library is across from the 54th/Cermak Pink Line CTA Station. As for the library itself, it's clean, most people are nice, and the seats are okay. There is an extra floor, but it's only for the little children and their parents. The library is also near a high school across the street, so it's really convenient for the high schoolers to go there after dismissal in case they need to study their homework or anything else like that. My overall experience inside the library, was decent but I'm also kinda glad I live a bit farther out and won't be here often, would come often if they decide to renovate the building because even though it was less crowded when I arrived and relaxed there, but honestly, I believe it could get crowded in occasions, but I'm honestly not sure because that was my first time going there. Not good but not bad either,...
Read moreI have been coming to this library for more than 15 years, before they expanded it. Most librarians and staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Just because the material is not there does not mean you can't request it from another suburb's branch for FREE.
The free programs they hold are also great, and they usually open up the place for voting during election time. In addition they have decent computers and electronic resources as well as great little places to study.
Avoid the rush periods though! Quiet...
