I've been to several escape rooms in Tampa and Lutz area. I have done 3 of the escape rooms at this location. I thoroughly enjoy challenging puzzles. The Shack, Pandemic, and The Caretaker... 2 of which my son and I did back to back last night. I was greeted by Josh and was given the customary escape room intro, lockers, use restroom, tips to approach the rooms but no specific hints. He was definitely courteous and understood customer service. All the rooms there are OUTSTANDING. They are definitely challenging but not impossible. We used all 3 hints but more can be requested which is a nice mixture of unlimited hints or only 3, this place found a way to hit the sweet spot of keeping it challenging but at your own willingness to sacrifice something else which I really enjoyed. The puzzles are well thought out and themes tie well to the game. The rooms were all very well decorated/designed and unique. Josh was great with his attentiveness and his hints were good in that they didn't just hand an answer out, but definitely pointed me in the right direction. This in itself is a skillset.... having the operator give away too much info has spoiled some of the fun for me at other locations but Josh seemed to really understand the rooms and guide appropriately when asked. This tells me the owners really train their employees to not only understand the room but how to enhance the guest experience. Josh was 5 stars. I did have a chance to speak to the owner before booking, as I am colorblind and was worried that may inhibit my ability to solve some puzzles. Jo, the owner, took great lengths to explain any unique circumstances based on the room where there could be an issue and went further to say that she would do anything necessary to accommodate a guest... just a class act. They really have it together. Money well spent as we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I found the cost to be comparable to most other escape rooms, but feel I received more VALUE for my money at America's Escape Game. 5 stars no question. Highly recommend. Uniquely challenging and...
Read moreAfter visiting our son and family, my wife and came to the Tampa area for a vacation. Little did we know we would find a gem of a place like this. We have only done 3 – 4 Escape Games in our life, but we have found all of them to be fun and challenging. This place is no different. As we are in the season of Covid, we chose America’s Escape Game as the room was guaranteed to be just the two of us and we wouldn’t be placed with someone we didn’t know. We chose ‘Crisis at 1600’. Alright, a little disclaimer. ‘Pandemic’ and ‘Crisis at 1600’ are designed for larger groups. If the number of occupants states 8 -10, be warned, it is designed so multiple people can do multiple activities at the same time. As it was just the two of us, some puzzles (once you had all the pieces) took quite some time to put together. Was it fun? Definitely. Would I do this one again? In a heartbeat. We were blessed to meet the owners after our game and had a very pleasant talk with them. Another positive during this game was that no one had booked the room after us, so we were allowed to try and finish the game (of course we did pay the additional fee for the extra hour and if you don’t finish a game and wish to come back, it is only half price for that game). Did we finish? Not quite, but close. If you are a team of 2 – 5, you could theoretically complete the room in a couple hours. Of course, we also had some helpful nudges which were appreciated. We had sooo much fun, we came back and tried ‘Pandemic’ and ‘The Shack’. I recommend all three that we tried. Great...
Read moreI did the Asylum room at this escape room venue and was not able to fully participate with my group. I am in my midfifties and visually impaired. My husband too. We knew the room was dark, so we brought a small flashlight each so that we would be able to see, along with magnifying glasses and reading glasses. Within minutes of starting, we were told that we were not allowed the flashlights and were told to put them away. Eventually my group located the small and only lantern we were allowed to use for lighting, but it wasn't enough to share for my party of 6, so I couldnt just keep it the whole time. I was essentially blind and frusterated the whole time because I could not read anything. I honestly wanted to walk out because why bother if I cant see a thing? The only reason I stayed in the room was so I would not disappoint the rest of my party. As a team, we were all aggravated that we could only work on 1 puzzle at a time because everybody needed the lantern to see when unlocking locks or assembling puzzles, so there was no strategy for deviding and conquering tasks. Some of us just stood around waiting for the lantern to be available. We were there to celebrate my birthday and it was a huge disappointment. I see no valid reason to restrict anyone from using a flashlight to see, and someone who has an impairment ought to be accommodated. Almost every other buissness in the entertainment industry will accomodate someone with an impairment. I've been to other escape rooms multiple times. This is the only time I was disappointed. I will...
