Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception — Attraction in City of Albany

My first visit so I don't know what it looked like before the renovation. I didn't think it looked that "bright." It smelled like a church and I liked that. They need a new sound system or the priest needs to speak clearer. I had difficulty understanding him but that was probably because of the acoustics which were unbelievable. You could drop a box of glass and it would sound like a choir of angels in that place. The cantor/soloist had a gorgeous voice but I had difficulty understanding her. The service didn't feed me but it felt like a holy space. The music was too pop/folksy for the space. There were only about 100 people present but the building is huge so it looked sparse. The Immaculate Conception Cathedral is so beautiful and peaceful. To me, God is always waiting for me to go in. I am Roman Catholic, born and raised. I've been not feeling so well lately, but God is always here to remind me, that he loves me no matter what. When I do stop in, I feel so grateful in my heart and soul. Prayer is so powerful!! There isn't a place so wonderful like the House Of God, and it is always open. You really feel like you belong to this place. It is peacefully guarded by the silence. People usually is very considerate and come to see the House of God with respect without disrupting the prayer time for those looking for solitude.
