Let me start out by saying that Chuck Cochrane (Housekeeping Manager) and Robert Brady (Operations Manager/Head of Security) really go hard for their staff in an effort to make sure that their Janitors are treated fairly and treated as human beings.
They're the only thing good about this place.
Janitors are Janitors right!? We're barely paid and often times are looked at as less than human and presumed that we're uneducated and underachieving help and there's no place in all of Albany New York that embodies that more than The Albany Capitol Center.
I try my damndest to treat people with respect and always put on a genuine smile. I clean the bathrooms, take out the garbage, vacuum the carpets, clean poop off of toilet seats, wipe glasses etc to only be treated by security (Matt Brady) and Management of Mazzone hospitality (Jaylene) like I don't belong nor do I have a place here at The Albany Capitol Center.
Today an incident occurred with myself and The Operations Manager's son Matt Brady over which walkie-talkie I preferred to have. We are not assigned specific walkie-talkies so I asked Matt for one that had a clip on talking piece that I could use that allows me to hear better when someone needs assistance. Rather than give me the walkie-talkie I needed he said, "You'll take what I give you and slammed the glass". With Robert Brady (Matt's Father) not only being the Operations Manager but The Head of Security it makes it rough to have a voice out of fear of being reprimanded. I didn't care though and uncharacteristically opened the glass and asked for the walkie-talkie I preferred. He kept making remarks insinuating that I had no right to anything so I called his behavior towards me racist and intimidating and after signing my name I threw the clipboard onto the counter and it fell to the floor.
And encounters like that one minus the clipboard throwing have become almost a regular thing for me at The Albany Capitol Center. Me always having to defend myself against classist racist demeaning behavior on a daily basis making my job experience absolutely horrid.
So if you're a minority that's down on your luck, might not have the highest of education, don't really have an extensive resume history or you're just looking to add to your already established income please DON'T WORK AT THE ALBANY CAPITOL CENTER. Stay clear from this place. I do not recommend it. I have put in my...

Located in the heart of downtown Albany, it serves as a versatile space for conferences, conventions, trade shows, and public events. From the moment you step inside, it’s clear that the facility is well maintained — floors shine, signage is clear, and the overall atmosphere feels welcoming and professional.
One of the standout features of the Albany Capital Center is how much space it offers. Whether you’re attending a large expo or a smaller business meeting, there’s plenty of room to move around comfortably without feeling crowded. High ceilings, wide hallways, and flexible room configurations make it adaptable for many types of events.
The coffee served on-site is surprisingly excellent — smooth, fresh, and far above average for a convention center. It’s a small touch, but it adds to the overall positive experience.
Staff and management are courteous, organized, and attentive to detail. Everything runs smoothly, from check-in to event wrap-up. Whether you’re a guest, exhibitor, or organizer, the Albany Capital Center delivers a pleasant, professional environment that exceeds expectations. It’s a great example of how a well-managed facility can...
Read moreForced to stay in that damn building for 4+ hours to see Gojira last night lest my ticket become voided if I stepped outside. Ended up getting sick from heat exhaustion involved from when a mass of people are in the same room moshing with no air circulation. Missed out on seeing Gojira entirely since my stomach was in ropes. How hard would it be to set up a squared off gate so people can go outside for fresh air? Had a million hangers available but no coat check. Only one area to get drinks, and that was bottlenecked between the merch tables serving mostly alcohol when I needed to be hydrated. I wouldn't go back here if my favorite band was playing and the venue...
