We visited the Everworld room at Zone 518 and left pretty disappointed. The concept is cool, but the experience isn’t well-designed for anyone on the spectrum who struggles with verbal communication or anyone who struggles with communicating. Even though we stayed together the whole time, each headset pushed us through the story at a different pace. That made it confusing and frustrating. It’s supposed to be a team experience, but we couldn’t even talk to each other about what we were seeing because we were on different levels. I couldn’t check in with my son to see what animals he saw or what part of the story he was on, and I could tell he started to feel disconnected and isolated. The headsets also seemed off and definitely need recalibrating. The tracking was glitchy, and the overall experience just felt clunky. Honestly, VR would’ve been much more immersive than this AR setup. There’s potential here, but right now it’s not inclusive for all types of people, and it’s not set up for true group interaction. Aside from that the employees were super friendly and they helped as much as they could. They have great customer service and the overall...
Read moreThis place is amazing! There are a large number of experiences to try and more are on the way. The staff was really friendly and excited, and opening day seemed to be going very smoothly; it was busy without being crowded or disorganized. It is a visionary business model in all senses of the word, as even the physical space houses more than one business, yet each is distinct and does not intrude on the other. Zone 518 is a most welcome addition to the redesigned Huck Finn's building and really fits the modern vibe of the place. Of particular note is the attention given to disinfecting the equipment, using thorough and proven methods. The building and the experiences are both physically accessible for people who use wheelchairs and the staff are intentional in accommodating individual's needs, as everywhere should be. I cannot recommend strongly enough and I will be spending considerable time here...
Read moreA waste of money to be honest. We went to the enchanted garden one, which was 30 minutes (but actually only 20 in terms of play time). The VR goggles don’t seem to cover a very wide field of vision, so I was still able to see the room we were in on the sides all around the virtual field of view. The room they put you in is shared by other doing different experiences, and it would be super easy to run into someone or accidentally touch them while interacting in the virtual space. The experience itself is just ok, some of the visuals were really cool but diminished by the fact that I could see the real room at the edges of my view. It kind of gave two of...
