I LOVE the Theater! I've been an avid supporter of the Capital Repertory Theater since it's inception. I've attended at least one production each season. A few years ago, I was gifted with season tickets which brought joy to my heart. One of the perks that I cherished was the option of changing to an alternative date in case of an emergency. On Sunday, 11/26/17 I attempted to use that option for the second time since I've been a subscriber and was told I would have to pay a additional fee. I refused the option to change, not because I don't have $5.00 +, but because I feel it is unfair to charge a fee for a seat on a different day when the seat is empty and was offered previously without a fee. I called back today, 11/27/17 for further information of the change. The explanation sounds like price gouging to me, just another tactic designed to get extra cash, which to me is very unfair to supporters. Of course, there are other theaters I could choose, but, I LOVE CapRep. However, I am saddened and disappointed about the extra charge. In my mind, this is a great way to loose supporters/subscribers. PS: I no longer use Holmes in my name, but, there wasn't an option to change it. I am...
Read moreAn Allstar Cast! Evan Jay Newman shines as Valli!
Jersey Boys was brought to life by a phenomenal cast and crew at Capital Repertory Theatre! As I looked beside me I could see couples holding hands who were being magically transported back to their first time seeing the Four Seasons. Evan Jay Newman lit up the stage as Frankie Valli and delivered a performance I can only describe as magical. What a fabulous triple-threat performer!
Watching Newman, and well as Justin Scott Brown as Tommy Devito, Brian Michael Henry as Nick Massi , and Jeffrey Kringer as Bob Gaudio brought Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons to Albany right before our eyes. Shannon Rafferty delivered some of my favorite lines in the show as Mary Del Gaudio, and Kyle Garvin had me smiling so many times as multiple characters! And, Nick Anastasia as Joe Pesci was a Riot!!!
The singing was superb, the acting we could feel in our souls, and the show as a whole I'll be fondly remembering with a smile for years to come.
I can't wait to become a subscriber at this theatre as start seeing all the amazing performances they have to offer. Don't Miss...
Read moreThis was a first visit to the new Rep location.
Parking is conveneniet, however, handicap parking is limited to a handful of space. There is ample street parking together with an official REP parking area a little over a block away. The charge for lot parking is currently $10 - no cash, credit only.
The new venue is is nice with a small lobby reminiscent of an independently owned movie theater. Light snacks, beverages (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) are offered at a small concession stand. There is very little seating in the event you want to sit and enjoy your food purchase.
Staff and volunteers are extremely polite.
The seating area is intimate and comfortable. Our seats were at the furthest end which in reality, should not be paid seats. We estimate the 75% or more of our view was obstructed. The staff kindly helped us upgrade our subscription seats to a more acceptable area.
Overall, The Rep is wonderful venue to have in...
