Leave it to Hudson to place their gothic lady to watch over you as you peep views of the river. A local shared that apparently this statue is of Saint Winifred who was beheaded by a king for not putting out. And in the place where her head rolled a spring sprang up. Supposedly this statue sits atop the place of an old spring and was meant to serve as a symbol of chastity to a city with a history of sex work. Is any of this true? I have no idea, but this statue is freaky and I like it.

My favourite place in town. The view is unmatched, the park nice and clean and the playground is well kept. Keep an eye out for bald eagles and ospreys, both can occasionally be seen here, the bald eagles have a nest on the Middle Ground Flats. Also you can watch the boat launch with all the involuntary comedy involved and in the evenings the sun sets over the Catskills.

I couldn't get enough of looking at the Hudson river. This was one view in a park at the end of a long stretch of shopping and restaurants. A nice way to start or stop the tour of Hudson. There are benches. I didn't see any public restrooms. Free parking on Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise bring quarters.

I grew up in Hudson. The "Park" looks better than it used to. Back in the day there used to be a festival from in front of the firehouse up to 1st street. It's also where parades ended. The boat launch was the best place to watch the 4th of July fireworks that were done on the Athens side of the nasty Hudson River. Didya know that parts of the movie Iron Weed was filmed on Columbia Street? Yup, right between 3rd and 4th. Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson right in Hudson! My mom met Harry Belafonte in Hudson. His home is in Chatham, and in the 80s a young lady who said she was a daughter of Sidney Poitier used to come to Hudson to get her hair done. She said her dad had a home in Philmont. I still have alot of family there and many fond memories...
