There are quite a few spots to check out on this block, but 225 Warren is definitely a solid choice if you’re looking for a casual, comfortable place to grab drinks and a bite. They’ve got a mix of bar seating, booths, and room for larger groups.
I sampled a few things from the menu during my visit. The fries were tasty and came in an adequate portion size for a starter—nothing over the top, but they got the job done. The calamari was okay. Let’s be honest: this isn’t a seafood restaurant, so expectations should be managed accordingly. That said, the marinara sauce was a good addition.
My least favorite item was the mac & cheese bites. I think the issue was more with the mac & cheese itself than the fact that it was fried. On the other hand, the mozzarella sticks were really well done and crispy.
The cauliflower wings are a good option. They’re not huge like other restaurants. They’re more like bite-size cauliflower balls. They definitely don’t taste like chicken, but it’s still a nice substitute for a veggie option.
One thing I'm not thrilled about is the added credit card fee and the fact that gratuity is included in the pricing. It's just something to be aware of when you get the bill. It can feel a bit sneaky if you’re not...
Read moreThis place had great reviews. We were looking forward to dinner. Pricing-not cheap. Service-not good. Food-inconsistent. My pasta was overcooked. When asked if the chocolate layer cake was a dense moist cake the server didn’t know. She disappears, taking care of other tables in the meantime, and finally came back to say no one knew but it looked moist. My gf ordered raspberry swirl cheesecake. They bring plain cheesecake with raspberry syrup topping, because they ran out of the swirl. My gf called after the server to order a hot tea, and she didn’t ask if I wanted anything. We complimented the other server who was very attentive, but said our main server (who turns out to be the owner) was terrible. The owner comes to us and said that we complained the entire night. We thought she’d care more about customer satisfaction and feedback. We didn’t send anything back, didn’t comment on the multiple substitutions, with the only complaint being her poor service. Restaurants that are busy and successful sometimes forget why or how they got there, I hope she just had an off night, but sadly it made for a lousy...
Read moreCrazy prices for what it is. The food was fine, but not special enough to merit the cost. A small Cobb salad with a few pieces of grilled chicken will run you $14. After our meal we asked to speak to the owner or manager. A few minutes later the waitress told us she was too busy to speak to us because the bar was slammed. It definitely was not and we watched her walk back and forth many times, pointedly not looking our way. We were hoping this would be a great local place to stop in for lunch but for what you get with these prices, it's clear this place is not meant for locals, a shame since I understand it was started by local people. The fact that no one in management could take a moment of their time to hear our comments means we will not be back or recommending this place. If you want a delicious salad or sandwich, there are so many other options on Warren street that will give you a more interesting or special meal for a more reasonable price. Try Baba Louie's...
