Stopped here for a quick brunch last Sunday, having not eaten at Le Perche since the new ownership (5+ years). I was delighted by the whole experience. I sat at the very attractive bar and contemplated the many tempting options on the menu. Seriously, something for every palette, every mood. Avocado toast, Croque madame, poached eggs with a kale pesto, short rib hash. Many familiar favorites but each with its own special twist āde la maisonā. My neighbor at the counter had the kale pesto and swore by it, but i decided on the charred Brussels Sprouts with tahini, chili vinaigrette and two fried eggs. It was perfect. Complex tastes, satisfying and filling. Holding a bit for dessert, and tempted by the bakery counter down at the end, I had an almond croissant and cafe latte and then walked out with a huge fresh baked olive loaf which would last me the week. Go here for brunch or lunch or for any takeaway breakfast treat. You wonāt be disappointed.

We were very thankful they took our group of 6 on a Sunday afternoon. We really enjoyed how lovely the building was and the outside space. The espresso drinks and hot chocolate were very good and the handcrafted mugs were a delight. The food was hit and miss. The spaghetti squash with eggs and the Croque Madame was very good and they were unique and refreshing items to offer. The egg sandwich was very small and plain without meat, for the price, and the poached egg that came with the avocado toast was brought to the table broken. The ham and cheese croissant was horrid. I thought at first it was wrapped in a brown bakery paper like a muffin, but it turned out that it was the ham, and the whole thing was hard as a rock. When asked why it wasn't eaten the person I was with said they thought maybe it was too stale to eat (due to the hardness) the server was a bit combative and said a little rudely that it was baked fresh that day. Whatever the case, it wasn't something she found edible. I know it's from the bakery section but I think that it might've been better if it could be warmed up somehow. The other issue was the time it took to get our food. It did seem that the orders went to the kitchen in the wrong order as many bigger groups who came in very long after us were served before us (and our server confirmed it.) The focaccia we ordered for the table never came out and when we asked where it was, we were told they were out. Which is fine, of course, but you should tell us straight away, don't make us have to ask. We ordered the sourdough in place of it which was also not warm and extra hard and not cut through all the way so we kind of struggled sharing it. Again all of these things are not the biggest deal but it is nice to have a server/restaurant who wants to make it better and feels at least somewhat apologetic. Take the uneaten item off of the bill without being asked, offer a little something in return for the added wait time, something, ya know? We know it isn't the server's fault if the kitchen forgot about us, but we didn't feel taken care of and it left the experience feeling pretty meh when we had started the day there pretty excited.

Expensive and noisy place in a converted row house. Came here for brunch recently and it was packed. Too many barking dogs allowed in the dining area. Some off menu items include dog bite toast and a side of pomme de la rue on the floor. Iām not a fan of doggy bag cafes⦠Friendly wait staff, prompt service once seated. Standard brunch menu items of avocado toast and the like, also some more French haute cuisine options. Menu starts at Manhattan prices and up, not Upstate, like where Hudson is. The fresh bread is good, but the croissants and viennoiserie that I was looking forward to trying are nothing to write home about. Their joke of a kouign amann tasted more like a bland, tasteless, doughy, diet pastry made with margarine than anything that remotely resembles a Breton butter cake. Kouign amanns start with flour and water and are made with sugar, salt, and lots of butter. Theirās was lacking in all three. Also, the cafe workers were rude and need to learn some basic customer service skills. My transaction took about fifteen seconds once they reluctantly looked over at me and took my money for a croissant that wasnāt worth the money to begin with. Ridiculous. Overall, I wouldnāt come back. Too many pet dogs and too overpriced for being in Hudson. This isnāt Brooklyn. I realize many people are weekenders and bring their dogs as a plus one, but most of these are not service dogs. Go outside to the patio or leave your dogs home.

If youāre Asian, better to go to Swoon, their sister restaurant. The service is average, but at least the server wonāt treat you differently than all the other people dining at the restaurant. Regarding the food, the menu is more limited than what is shown on their website, so donāt be surprised when you sit down. We had the Escargot on Corn Grits, Roasted Brussels Sprouts on Tahini, and pastries as our dessert. The escargot dish was delicious, but after five bites, it felt one noted. This dish would be more successful as a side dish than entree, unless you can share it around the table with 3-4 other people. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. It felt like a warm winter salad you donāt want to stop eating. The fries seemed to be wildly popular, every single table had them except for us. Skip the pastries and walk over to Breadfolks. The pastries were dry and very obviously not fresh. You deserve better.
