Memory Lanes — Attraction in City of Port Jervis

The staff there was extraordinarily rude. My father’s a bit darker, and he said it was the first time he ever got a look that was purely racist, and got attitude that was rooted in pure racism. Our encounter went like this:

My family: “hey, can we get a lane for 5 people?” Staff: “…Yeah what are the names?” My family: *proceeds to tell names Staff: throws instructions at us and then afterwards, “you’re in lane 1” My family: notices there are two families, one at 2, the other somewhere near 3,4 “uh, can we get lane 12? We want some space, if it’s okay with you,” Staff: “no.” Me: “why not?” Staff: “because I said lane 1” My dad: “okay, I don’t want to be rude, that’s fine, I just wanted some space is all,” Staff: scoffs and says the following in a very derogatory and condescending tone “if you wanted space, then you shouldn’t have come to a bowling alley. There’s bound to be people here,”

Needless to say, after that encounter with the very rude staff member, we bid her a good day and left. We didn’t feel right giving business to a place that employs staff members like these.

I really do hope no one else chooses to give them any service either. They seemed very racist, judge mental, and closed minded. It’s not a place I would recommend to...

Out of the 12 lanes available, two were taken. We did not want to be placed in between the two because we simply wanted space for our family of seven to have a nice time. After being placed between the two occupied lanes, we asked to switch, only to get an incredibly rude response from the person behind the register. She said something along the line of “no, you can’t be placed elsewhere because I placed you where I wanted you to be placed”, and “you came to bowl and didn’t expect to see people”? All we wanted was to be placed elsewhere, far before we started bowling... Even if it wasn’t possible, at least tell us nicely that the other lanes are closed or tha some issue would occur. But to be rude like that for no reason to a first time customer?...

To Michael Tanami, I was there this night when this happened. This did not happen the way you say it did. There was only one team bowling that night and there would have been an empty lane between you and them. You were the rude ones you and the woman with you. She was sarcastic with her remarks... There was no racial looks given by the worker behind the bar. But you did say you were not contagious!!! Maybe you have a racial problem against the people that were bowling. Maybe people should think twice before making comments against someone when there are multiple...
