Unfortunately, I won’t be back, though I liked the pizza.
I don’t like the order takers unnecessarily touching my pizza that I’m about to eat.
I spoke to the owner practically a year ago about the discomfort I was having with most (happen to be young female servers) when taking my order would pull the slice of pizza off with their bare fingers from the pie. They are also answering the phones, handling customer’s cash, opening the oven and touching other handles, then touched my pizza when I ordered a slice. (I would be surprised if anyone cleans landline phones & other handles). Most people may not pay attention, but it was bothersome to me every time I saw it. -Mainly because I liked to eat the soft crust that they would handle. Plus it’s the basic principle of not touching my food unless you’re the cook. I’m also quite sure FDA food code prohibits bare hand contact from servers with ready to eat foods.
When I spoke with the owner, I discreetly pulled him aside and complemented him first to say that I find this pizza to be my favorite in Port Jervis, then briefly brought the issue to his attention. -He cut me short and said “I got it”. Though I told myself I wouldn’t return, occasionally I kept giving it another try (especially when hungry running errands 😅) but repeatedly when I stopped in there, even with others that I treated to pizza, the same issue continued. I always think feedback is good for any business, but apparently I was shrugged off.
I normally don’t leave negative reviews, I just don’t return, but I’d like ALL pizza shop owners to understand that ONLY the pie maker should be touching the food, Not people taking orders and handling dirty cash. I post this for the sake of the principle of handling food for everyone.. I even suggested to one of the girls to simply use a tong to pull off the pizza, and she gave me an annoyed look as if I was being too picky and said they didn’t have any.
I left 2 stars in the review just for my fondness of the pizza taste. -and I know good pizza, I was born in the Bronx, raised in Yonkers, lived in Brooklyn, and been around enough to taste plenty. Besides my mom‘s cooking, I practically grew up on pizza while riding my freestyle bike around towns.
It’s a shame because I really like their pizza, but I have standards. -And yes, other pizza shops I’ve witnessed Don’t...
Read moreworse experience ever ! walked in to a girl behind the counter with the nastiest customer service I've ever dealt with. I placed my order to go and went to another store for juices/snacks. I found myself waiting another 10mins when I got back to the pizzeria so I told them make it to stay and Sat down. I enjoyed my dinner with my daughter, asked for the $18 check (I guess my 3 dollar tip wasn't good enough bc the waiter said here's ur change) I finished my food and walked out. 2 mins into leaving, the counter girl with the nastiest customer service comes running behind me demanding I go back and pay. when I told her that I did, she tells me that I didn't and she knows because 3 people told her, then demanded I go back in and pay. as my child, her and I walk back I'm explaining to her that this is insane, I paid my waiter, I wouldnt steal and asked if she had cameras so they can check. by this time her attitude was disgusting and aggressive, as she walks in to further embarrass my child and I by screaming "so come in and pay". I walk in, point out the waiter and yell "u know I paid so don't lie" she says "u did pay" I say "exactly, tell her that bc she's accusing me with her bad attitude" nasty counter girl says "I don't know who u think ur talking to" I say "you! u have a bad attitude and u need to fix it" a guy behind the counter says "it's ok, it's ok" I say "thank you" and walk out.
This was the nastiest customer service I've ever dealt with in all my years of living. The entitlement, embarrassment, disrespect and unprofessionalism that came from that nasty girl was shocking ! To me, that girl was evil with the biggest chip on her shoulder and doesn't deserve to...
Read moreThe family deals from Port Jervis Brick Oven Pizza are difficult to pass. We bought the 29 dollar family combo which included a large cheese pizza, garlic bread, chicken wings, a small salad and a 2 liter soda. Additionally, we bought a spinach calzone and an eggplant parm hero. Once we picked up our order and brought it home, we realized that the soda was missing. Regardless, we weren't going to complain but discuss it at a later date- moreover, when we possibly might order another meal.
Yet, what was seemingly a good family dinner turned out to be a deceiving meal. The food was heavy on the oil and left five in the family with upset stomachs afterward. The possible culprit were the chicken wings- although the garlic bread was also overly buttered and the tast kept returning to the mouth even the next morning. Those who did not have the chicken wings had no issue, but those who did had upset stomachs. Perhaps, the oil in which the chicken wings are made in was old- an issue that Gordon Ramsey would find when inspecting restaurants.
It's a shame to realize that food which tasted good actually is not of high caliber. Definitely, not going to return to Port Jervis Brick Oven Pizza for...
