Market Fresh Supermarket — Attraction in City of Poughkeepsie

I was regularly shop there and most of the staff were usually neutral to occasionally friendly but the older man who might be the manager made a comment that caused me to never return there again. I'm in the LGBT community and he made a hateful comment to another hispanic person while looking at me. He said the word maricón. We don't need to tolerate abusive degenerate treatment aka hate speech especially in the 21st century and never deserved it in the past either. Homophobia is usually a sign of the hompophobe being secretly the exact thing they hate. It's intolerable, disgusting, low and cowardly behavior and I will continue to spread the word to the LGBT community that they are not welcome at market fresh because of homophobia which is most likely simply projected self hatred of the offender. Without another grocery store near by short of driving all the way to Fishkill to Walmart, Market Fresh is definitely a staple of the community, but with the price of Food and everything else going up, we're appealing to Market Fresh with kindness to give back to the community that's allowing it to grow and sustain yourself and not just be a vulture and Take Take...

The jobs that you provide to our young community members are priceless, but too many people in our community continue to go to bed Hungry at night and now with the dramatic rise in Poughkeepsie homeless population, we're challenging and business and private sector to find away to do more

I just want to shout out the owner of Market Fresh Poughkeepsie.

He offered to see if he could get Dasheen leaf so he could provide for the Caribbean community here. I told him it’s not very expensive and he’d barely turn a profit and he said it was better for him for people to get food from their countries.

I moved here (from Toronto) and I was looking for some items from the Caribbean that I used to get, Dasheen Leaf (Taro Leaves) and I called every grocery store nearby to see if they imported it. Every single one turned me away, except him.
