I like the features against the side wall in the street section. At the front wall is a raised platform with a bank. Next is a half pyramid. On the left is a very tall flat rail; on the right is a ledge with a bank (you can do a ride-on grind here), and a bank that leads to a raised platform with a down rail and ledge. At the back wall is a quarter pipe/wall ride. There's an extremely small euro gap cut out of the bank.
The rest of the street section is a series of quarter pipes and tall banks. And there's a large raised section with a down ledge and a narrow euro gap. Instead of a down rail, there's a sideways rail you can ollie over.
By the entrance is a down rail and bank. And next to that is a small mini ramp that's very popular.
There's a lot more to the park than I was able to skate. There's a bowl, 1 or 2 more miniramps, a BMX rhythm section, and more.
It's great that Rochester has an indoor skatepark, and its residents should really appreciate it.
There are some negatives. Some of the concrete is in rough shape. I hit a divot that was an inch or two deep and fell off my board. Like I said, there's a flat rail but it's the tallest one I've ever seen. The small miniramp has a pillar in the middle of it. Some of the features are a little weird, like a small quarter pipe in the back-right corner that has a beveled 2x4 for coping. Some of the wood is in rough shape, like a few places where 2 pieces of plywood meet. It was a little chilly, but you should be fine if you wear appropriate clothing and...
Read moreTook my 10/12 YO kids here on Friday night for scooter night. We've visited outdoor skateparks but this was our first indoor one. It's a really impressive space with a large variety of different obstacles. There are a couple viewing platforms to spectate which was great for me to be curious and also celebrate their successes from afar. There was a ton of open areas for everyone to be creative and try new things in a way that felt safe, free of judgement and unrushed. All the riders in the skatepark were respectful and encouraging of one another regardless of skillset which made it very enjoyable for my novice riders. There were clear guidelines for conduct and participation in the riding areas. As a parent, this felt like something nostalgic. The best way to describe it is any 90s childhood place shielded from technological temptations, just free reign to explore, be creative and physically active. It's honestly refreshing. There is a repair shop and a variety of accessories or supplies to keep your bike/skateboard/scooter safe. The items can either be installed in-house or purchased and installed independently. While there is a ton of information online to learn about maintenance and care for your vehicle choice, it's nice to have an option to speak with someone to ensure the accurate items are being...
Read moreMy family had an amazing time while visiting the skatepark on Sunday. Coming from out of town my 7 year old son brought his scooter to ride but he was also able to rent a bike for the afternoon from the park. There are lots of tables and a comfortable area for parents to observe the entire park from. If you don't have any equipment with you they rent everything needed, pads, helmets, bikes, scooters. Everyone at the park was super friendly and my son felt very comfortable exploring the...
