Winter Swan Coffee — Restaurant in City of Rochester

I've been coming to Winter Swan Coffee consistently for over a year, and as an established regular, a review is long overdue. There are many fantastic coffee shops in Rochester, each with its respective atmosphere and service offerings, but I have yet to see one that rivals the unique ambiance Winter Swan creates for its customers.

ATMOSPHERE: To start, Winter Swan is located in the same space as Stacy K Floral Shop, giving it the advantage of surrounding its customers with flowers, plants, and giftable goodies as they wait for their orders. It's like you're in a cocoon of warmth and live-laugh-love (in the best way possible). I think I've purchased gifts for several of my loved ones from this shop. Where else can you find gorgeous cactuses, Turkish ceramic bowls, scarves, candles, and artisanal chocolates as you wait for your coffee?

If you choose to dine in, there is a spacious area with over 15 large tables to sit and chat or do some work. As others have noted, there are no outlets near the tables (there are some on the walls), so be aware of that if you come to do work...just charge your stuff beforehand. I've written dozens of assignments and studied for countless exams in this wonderful space. And there's a little plant decoration on each table (which rarely ever wobble!!)...it's these little things, guys, truly...a unique combination of industrial and cozy; you can't find this easily elsewhere.

DRINKS AND PASTRIES: I get the White Coffee (a milkier version of the traditional Vietnamese coffee) so often that the lovely & friendly baristas not only know my name but my order as well. If you want a new coffee experience from a regular latte, do not miss out on trying it. Some other star menu items are the butterfly pea latte, seasonal peppermint mocha, french toast latte, and matcha. They also offer cookies from So Belly Happy and bagels if you need a little treat to go with your drink. You order is ready in under five minutes, and if you dine in your drink will most likely be served in a wonderful glass cup.

This is the coffee shop I miss and yearn for every time I leave Rochester. Even if I am in New York City or Turkey, there are very few spaces that rival Winter Swan's atmosphere for me. I recommend this place endlessly—go and see for yourself if you...

Went for the first time this last weekend and coffee was incredible!! The staff are very knowledgeable and even make those cool little designs with the foam in your latte. We loved the atmosphere and everything surrounding us so much that We stayed to have four different coffees. I tried the warm seasonal matcha, which was lovely, the hot chai latte which was even better! My girlfriend ordered some other concoction, which was delightful but my all time favorite was the chilled Pandan coffee which is now officially my favorite and one simply needs to try it if you stop by for the first time. The live plant life surrounding everything is so aesthetically pleasing. The customers that frequent are lovely to talk to and often bring their puppies in. We met a standard poodle named randall, and it was just the best time. Overall ten out of ten!! Very cute and down to earth trendy place without snobby attitudes. Found Winter Swan via Google Coffee search and was excited to see that they offered a couple of Viet coffee options on their menu. Having been to Vietnam, (actually headed back over that way in about 10days) I can tell you Viet style coffee drinks are unbelievably wonderful! So I enthusiastically drove over to Winter Swan, eager to support their business and see what else they had to offer.

Upon ordering a Viet Ca Phê Sũa I complimented the menu and told the Barista that I was excited to see Viet style coffee on a menu in Rochester, NY. She immediately gave me a very snotty look and replied with, “yeah it’s a little thing called immigration!”

I mean, WHAT?! Look, I’ll leave it at this. The store is expansive and gorgeous. I did end up leaving with a couple of to go coffees and they were both very good! The Cà Phê Sũa was actually on point! But is it worth being scorned by the staff and left reeling by the experience? For me, I’m gonna...
