I don’t go out of my way to leave reviews. I was with my mom who purchased some Fabric from this store last week. My mom didn’t have the receipt and was wondering if she could exchange or get money back. Her seamstress couldn’t work with material she bought.
The short lady with pale skin and dark short hair was beginning to explain their return policy. Which is totally fine. We understood. She told my mom their return policy is listed on their signs through out the store. Again… understood. No one was arguing here.
Here’s what really got me. My mom is foreign and has a slight language barrier. My mom was beginning to explain she hasn’t been in the store in awhile. Trying to EXPLAIN to the lady she missed the info on the signs. But ….The short dark Haired lady rudely interrupted my mom mid sentence and said oh you haven’t been here? My mom said no I was here a few days ago but before that, it was a Long while. Lady said OH SO YOU HAVE BEEN HERE. Very passive aggressive and immature. My jaw dropped.
I was so taken back by this ladies customer service. Being condescending to a woman who is clearly foreign and my mom was being nothing but very sweet.
This is not even about customer service.. it’s about the lack of respect and communication. I’ve been in service industry for over 10 years and I’m probably 20 years younger than this person and I’d never spoken to a client that way.
It was a great thing when another lady stepped in.. tall lady with short grey hair. Was very sweet and helpful and talking to us like she should be talking to clients. She really saved the experience because if that other lady continued…I’d never step back in that place. Get back to school and take another communications 101 class- if you even went to school.
It’s about the experience when you walk into a place. These days it’s not okay to treat people that way and not be called out sometimes.
To save any drama in the store… I decided to save this complaint for a review.
Thank You. And don’t forget guys— no return policy. It’s written on...
Read moreMy daughter plays cello in the Civic Youth Orchestra at the DSO and needed a full length, black dress and skirt made for concerts (not something commonly available for young girls). We have a wonderful dressmaker in Birmingham who suggested Haberman Fabrics. I took my daughter who was 15 at the time and was treated so rudely (once we actually found somebody to help us) that we left. I called the dressmaker and asked if she knew of anyone else who would stock the fabric, unfortunatley she did not and I went back to Haberman the following week. I had a different women help me who was as rude as the first. I asked to pull a bolt out and look at it but decided against it and asked to see another. She ROLLED her eyes and slammed the next bolt down without a word. It was perfect and I asked for 3 yards. Still no word. She cut and wrapped it up. Still nothing. I took the package and said "thank you". She replied, "sure" with out looking up. The selection is incredible but who would put up with such rude service? Not me. It wasn't until I had to deal with the owner, JoAnn Haberman, who placed an order with my company that I realized that it all begins with her. She has been unreasonable and rude to the point of our refusing her last order. Her Mother should be ashamed of the rude, entitled women she has raised. She spreads her lousy attitude to her employees and likely anybody else that has to spend time in...
Read moreI have visited this store twice in order to purchase material for the wedding gown my sister is constructing for me. The first time I went, the trip was okay--nothing special about it. The second time however, was extremely frustrating. I arrived at about 7:45p, with ample time to make my selection before closing time at 10p. I waited 10 minutes for help (after asking for it when I first walked in) and even after an employee finally came around, she didn't meet my needs. I gave her the item description, bolt numbers, and cost per yard, but she was unable to find the silk material I needed. At first it was fine (inventories can become depleted, I understand that) but the fact that the employee was rushing and not giving due diligence made me want to look myself--so I did. Twenty minutes after the initial interaction, I found the material I was looking for--additionally, the employee did not assist me in choosing another (comparable) product after failing to locate my selection. I strongly support buying local, but I will not be going back there. You would think that when a customer is looking to buy five yards of a material that had a list price of $70/yard, you'd at least get their...
