I love red olive restaurants Sunday I went with my sisters and I had the worst experiences I ever had and I've been going here for years and never had an problem. The waitress on my receipt is HOPE. Her customer service was horrible as if she was in a rush and didn't want to serve us . No, the restaurant wasn't packed it was maybe 3 other tables at that time . Long story short My sister found hair in her food I told the waitress and her response was "OMG!! Yes it is" and I asked the waitress to take something off the bill her response from that is there wasn't a manager there that could take something off the bill (first lie) so I asked her to redo it she walked away with an attitude just to come back with the same attitude to tell me she wasn't taking anything off the bill as well as others standing in the back looking. Which make me feel as something wasn't right. Things took a turn and another waitress acting as if she a manager stating she was a manager (another lie ) I believe her name was Lucia something like that. Going back and forward about her not taking something off my bill because of the hair in my food .Bibek came over and helped. He offered to help and agreed that their customer services was horrible and said he would take 10% off I agreed . We go to the front to check out he told me my bill was $26.40 I gave him my card to pay but something went wrong to where the one female that lied about being a manager comes back up so we standing there about 10 mins so I took my card and paid in cash the amount that was on my receipt which was 28.00 as I was pulling out cash to pay she said my bill was 30 something dollars I ignored her and paid the 28.00 she talking about you're short. Remind you my receipt says 28.00 like I said this is by far the worst experience I had at a Red Olive restaurant I won't be back .I don't want to end up with hair or anything else for that matter in my food and get treated like I did something wrong by asking to take something off my bill. I never said I wouldnt pay for it . To me this is not being reasonable not once did anybody apologize but the guy...
Read moreIf possible I don't think I would give any stars. Maybe tonight was a fluke but I am considerably unhappy with the service at Red Olive. My daughter a friend and I were in on a Friday night. We let the waiter know that an additional person would be joining us shortly. He replied with "we just got busy". There about 20 customers in the place at various stages of service. We were not offered any accommodations for a child and had to ask the buss boy for a children's menu. We were fine waiting however it took 20 minutes for him to return to our table, to not take drink orders but as we had a child witb us we were prepared to place our order including the order for for the person not present yet. I requested to have 2 eggs off the children's menu rather that the egg and bacon/ sausage as we are vegetarian. I was initially told this would not be a problem. Moments later the waiter returned to tell me that the cook can not substitute an egg for the bacon. I then requested that just an egg and toast be made. The waiter again returned to ask if we wanted fruit instead of the bacon. This made no apparent sense to me as fruit and bacon costs more than an egg and how can it be that you can substitute a fruit for a protien but not protein for protein. At this time I asked to speak to the manager. We were unfortunately in earshot of the manager who was cashing out other customers. Again we had no issue with waiting however her reply was less than attentive as she persisted to have a personal conversation with the the person at the register while other customers waited. It was evident that she was not concerned with our request. We gave her 5 minutes to come to our table as she did not we left letting her know that she could cancel our orders. Again her reply was less than concerned. I have been to thisthis establish a number of times as I live near by and have never experienced such disregard. My friends and I will not be returning any time...
Read moreHad lunch from here a few times. My boss buys us food on Saturday, and seems to like this place. I have concluded that he has had traumatic injury to his mouth at some point, because calling this food mediocre is a generous lie.
The first time, I thought, hey, it's a kebob, sometimes they don't cook well and they come out rubbery and tasting like ammonia. I guess. The second time, I soft balled in a club sandwich. That they managed to get most of the ingredients onto the sandwich shouldn't have been impressive, but after tasting the slimy turkey, the rubbery, pale bacon, and the depressed lettuce, I was glad the sour tomatoes had been left off most of it. The third time I thought, this is it, the lucky time when I get to taste the great food from this popular eatery! I got ambitious, and ordered a chicken caeser salad. The lettuce was good- nice, green, crunchy, fresh. The Parm, a little less so, maybe it just wasn't my brand. But the chicken. It looked good. It smelled good. So why did it taste bad? Bitter. Honest to god bitter chicken. I still can't figure out the dressing- usually bad Caesar dressing is either gritty, or unpleasantly sour and bitter, but I hadn't found a sample that was both at once. I WANTED to taste anchovies, but at that point, more to get the taste out of my mouth than anything else. After about a third of the salad, I had no appetite left, and it was not because of a rich and filling meal.
So, as I sit here, sipping apple cider vinegar to quell the unrest in my stomach, I say to you this; to the people who have already left reviews here, I apologize your preferred eatery is in decline. To those who plan to visit in the future, scrutinize your meal before accepting it. And to Red Olive itself, don't worry. With hard work and effort, you too can surpass the meager standards set by a Detroit...
