LOVE this spot! If you are in the Clayton area, this is a must-visit! The establishment is tucked up on a hill and is very lovely inside and out. They make all of their liquor on site and you can even take a private tour of the facility. There are two bars and a gift shop where you can taste before you buy. My personal favorite is the Snow Cream. It's like Bailey's Irish Cream (but 10 times better!). They have a wide range of fantastic cocktails and be sure to check out their new martini menu. Every Friday night they host Music Bingo with a DJ and it's a blast! I've been several times and have never been disappointed. The energy and vibe is fantastic and everyone has a great time. Just a tip: There are just a few food items available to purchase, so you may want to eat in advance or bring something with you to snack on. The owner keeps his two adorable dogs behind the bar and they have a ton of fun back there and occasionally interact with the guests. And don't forget to say hi to my favorite bartender in town, Teddy! She's the best and so is this spot! Be sure to check out my pics here and don't forget to visit the restrooms for some super...

Being a bit of a "newb" in the whiskey tasting and collecting, we were on a trip to Anderson, SC and decided to hit a few "no name" distilleries on the road trip down. This place was exactly what I had hoped we would find! A smaller venue, not commercialized, and VERY welcoming! We walked in the door and were instantly greeted. Never had that weird feeling of being an out of towner walking into a local establishment. I really enjoyed seeing their tribute and acknowledgement of the military and first responders!! So much, that I left two of my patches to add to their collection. I do not remember the young mans name that helped us, but, he did an AMAZING JOB talking with me and my GF and walking us through the tasting and purchasing. Explaining how they work and all the ins and outs of their establishment with a little whiskey history. We tasted a few of their offerings, made a purchase of a couple different items and headed out! The tastings sold me on purchasing more than I would have because of how smooth and flavorful they were. This place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Anytime we are in this area, we WILL be...

If you want to enjoy the true Distillery Experience, make SURE you reserve your spot earlier than the night before. I tried to sign up my party of 2 for the distillery tour at 10/11pm the night before and showed up the next morning, to be informed that I had attempted too late to sign up, even though website allowed me to do so. They had already started production when I showed up at opening, so I will make it a point to request the tour at least 2 days in advance next time. Not their fault at all, now I know what to do, though! We opted to do the $20 tasting and had a fun, informative time with the staff. At opening, we were only ones there during the week. We learned about all the products they make, including bourbon-infused ice cream and a variety of sauces. We tasted their Snow Cream, and it was outtta this world, a perfect blend for your holiday drinks! They have a decent amount of space and a great rustic atmosphere that you would hope for when kicking back bourbon n whiskey. Will return on my next trip! We bought the chocolate and cookies n cream booze ice cream, you...

We spent a wonderful two + hours here doing the tour and tasting. It was a great experience. Doug, owner/operator & Master Distiller, led the tour. Doug is a super personable guy with a ton of knowledge about making whiskey. He explains the science behind his craft and makes the tour fun and interesting. We've toured many distilleries and Doug and Moonrise Distillery are by far our #1! The tasting at the end was great, too. Doug teaches you how to drink bourbon. I found out I've been doing it wrong for avery long time. But I'll do it wrong no longer. Go see Doug. Take the tour. Taste his craft. You won't be disappointed and you will learn something.
