We visited in July. The place was very crowded and busy. This place was referred to us as "the place to go". It took a very long time for someone to acknowledge our presence and get us seated. Staff seemed rude and bothered from the get-go. We should have taken the hint and went elsewhere. The soda was flat for everyone at the table and it was obvious just by looking at it as there were no bubbles at all in the soda glasses that had just been placed before us. It had fizzed itself out when put into the glasses. However, when we let our waitress know our sodas were all flat she became even more rude and bothered and gave us all kinds of stupid excuses for it. We were told that "the distributors calibrate the soda machines", " nobody else here has complained of having flat soda!", "It's fizzing when we fill the glass! See? (while demonstrating the filling of a glass)" We asked about their onion rings whether they were salty or if the onions were sweet. The waitress replied rudely: "I don't know! That depends on your taste buds!" Wow! Really?? We asked about other items on their menu as well. We got the same reply: "I don't know!" Rude, not helpful, unknowledgeable.... The burgers we ordered were not what we asked for. We ordered their bacon burgers and asked that they be cooked very well done with crispy bacon. We got very rare burgers that were not hot enough to melt the cheese on them and the bacon was far from crispy! Their fries were not that hot and were definitely not crunchy! Gross! Overall, extremely disappointing! We didn't get what all the hype was all about with the Rusty Bike Café! Will not be returning to this restaurant and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone! However, we certainly found amazingly, fabulous food for the rest of our visit to the Clayton area from Mama G's Italian Restaurant and Universal Joint. When asked about their menu items, they kindly answer your questions. They were very knowledgeable about what was offered on their menus and are proud enough of their Restaurant to let you know their opinions on what they particularly liked themselves. In summary if you want superb food and want to be treated kindly by intelligent restaurant staff "the place to go" REALLY is: Mama G's Italian Restaurant or Universal Joint! BOTH were...
Read moreWe started eating at Rusty Bike two years ago and loved it. We live 45 minutes SE. The last two times we've been, we noticed that locals are given precedence over people who have been waiting 30+ minutes who said: We will sit at the bar. When we arrived on Friday, May 12, around 8:45, we were basically ignored by other employees and the owner who were at the register, and could have easily taken 15 seconds to add our name to the list. The hostess was out on the floor cleaning tables and finally came to the front to take names. My husband told her that we would sit at the bar if that was the first available. I saw many tables clean and ready, yet the hostess was not seating everyone promptly. The clincher for us is when a local walked in and asked the hostess if anyone was in front of him to be seated at the bar. Her response: "No, sir.". I'm sorry, but I know my husband and I requested the bar and a couple that was put on the wait list after us. I get it. You want to keep your locals happy, but if visitors have already been waiting for 30 minutes, wouldn't it be considered bad business to give a seat/table to someone who eats there every day? Maybe you just don't care about out of town customers 🤔 I didn't get that vibe two years ago, and the food is definitely great. However, we left Friday without eating and went to the Waffle House and got fast, friendly service, and the food was great. I'm not sure we...
Read moreI first Pulled into this shopping center due to the amount of cars in the parking lot searching for a non chain restaurant to eat lunch. Once parked I noticed there were 3 different restaurants in this strip mall. Now the real dilemma which one do pick. After sitting in my truck for about 10 min I noticed a majority of the people were entering the rusty bike cafe. So what did I do, follow the crowds. Once inside the restaurant I was greeted with incredible hospitality and sat down at the bar immediately with minimal wait. Sitting at the bar by the entrance and cash register I was able to observe a lot of things. The first was the incredible staff and customer service they provide to locals and new customers. Second was speed of service I had my full meal plus some free extra French toast in under 15 min of my initial seating. Don’t be discouraged by a long wait they know how to move customers in and out. Now the food was incredible! Well prepared and great portions! Now as I was finishing up I got to meet the owner. We talked for about 30 min. His attitude and good energy, leadership is a huge reflection of his restaurant. Incredible place to visit if your in north Georgia or heading into...
