Dr.Kim is not for everyone. His English is hard to understand but can't fault him for that ( just thought after 15 years he would have picked up some ). He is kind but like most shrinks he thinks he knows u more than yourself. Sometimes we know what works for us and just need a doctor to prescribe and monitor us ( as opposed to just getting a refill for the rest of your life) Dr. Kim makes assumptions based on a quick glance at what he has in his charts but does not take other factors like other doctors, your word, progress, current situation in order to make a diagnosis. Better not tell him you tried x y z at one point bc he is close minded when it comes to some drugs. Basically he assumes everyone is going to get addicted and use some meds for partying. However it all depends on the patients ahh.. background...insurance etc as I have seen some in his office come in for years , be on 47 different pills...come in shaking..leave with RX. I wanted to have a single point of support and be monitored by an expert but he basically told be there was nothing he could do for my anxiety..Nothing..I had no cure... said to take benadryl, Nyquil..Even though he was the first person to put me on "k" 15 years ago successfully. He made me feel like someone looking to get high...I had not even asked for anything. He just read on his PC. I had to correct him several times about what medication. I had or was taking. I honestly expected him to be more understanding. Knowing in my heart what I know to be true and seeing a so called expert get it ALL wrong scares me. Where do we go for help. He would not even prescribe me things he even recommended....I guess they are all afraid of losing their license and rather have us look for anxiety relief on the streets. Sorry Dr. Kim. That is not me.I'll continue to look for a professioal to evaluate me unbiased and will prove you wrong. His office actually wanted me to cancel my appt a day before bc of an alleged insurance bill not paid from 3 years ago. Amazing...My advice? Don't be honest with him. Decide by researching what treatment you need it is best for you . Try to get what you need. If he refuses go somewhere else.. That's my exp.and I had been seeing him off and on since 2002. Update: Found a great doctor and my anxiety is managed with minimal medication. Haven't had to up the dose. Actually take less than prescribed and my current provider is there for me when I need him. 2 years later I'm happy and with less...
Read moreDr. Kim is a very good doctor. I work in Healthcare and have seen the different approaches psychiatrists make in addressing psych. He is genuinely caring, takes his time to listen and get feedback from you as a patient. He tried to get to know you and establish a relationship as doctors should with their patients but is no longer common practice as it once was. He has a good sense of humor which helps patients relax and be more at ease as being a patient can be uncomfortable. He also is a neurologist which gives him a more vast insight on the overall approach to effectively treating. His staff is caring and helps with accommodations. Every time I have called or come in with concerns or questions, the receptionist has always followed through on helping me with concerns, questions or...

He is very uninformed about anything relating to LGBTQ and is quite transphobic. His failure to keep my personal information confidential has caused unnecessary problems in my family that have heightened stress in my life. Very terrible person. Very terrible experience. I am never going...
