I understand that we’re in the middle of a pandemic. I waited outside (i’m OK with that safety first ) and in the store for the next available person to help me, no one came up to me and asked, “ Sir, are you being helped?”. But yet they were multiple people up at the cash register. Sitting there talking amongst themselves with “absolutely Fish T-shirts on. Meanwhile people are outside waiting on me to leave so that they can go inside and get what they needed.
I have no beef with this company, I go there all the time generally it’s a great experience, somewhat hectic. Because it’s a very busy store. But today, May 29th Saturday at 1:40 PM the store is slow, there was no one (outside) in line when I got there. When I left there was about six people waiting outside in the hot heat.
I finally get help, my final purchases would’ve been around $220. I got an Electrical pH checker some live animals, and some food and re-mineralize are for my RO DI water.
Finally payment, I’ll preference this by stating I’m a millennial. I had recently lost my bank card, it’s gonna take 7 to 10 business days to get a new one. But I had Apple Pay, I asked the gentleman do you accept Apple Pay, another gentleman interjected and stated we’re not allowed to use Apple Pay. We can except the physical Apple Pay card.
I looked at him, thinking poor guy he doesn’t know the difference between a credit card issued by Goldman Sachs and Apple Inc. Versus a Apple Pay wallet on someone’s iPhone, looked past that.
I proceeded to ask what can you except enter my card information manually, because I have a digital debit card issued by my bank that is in my banking application on my phone.
I’m thinking that they’re going to ask me for some ID to match the name that’s on the card to my drivers license ID. They skipped that security question altogether and immediately just said no.
So now, absolutely fish has just wasted an employees time because he’s gathered livestock and helped me answer some questions around remineralize. And lost about $220 worth of revenue.
But yet when I go to their website, and I use that same digital card I don’t get the ninth° on absolutelyfishnaturals.com
I guess I’ll just stick to Amazon.com, bulk reef supply, aquarium co-op, flip...
Read moreOver the last few weeks I have been emailing the owner, Glenn, regarding an upcoming purchase I would like to make. This will include a new tank, stand, and the whole setup for an african cichlid tank.
First let me start by saying that I am a novice when it comes to fish, with my limited experience is keeping my freshwater (peaceful) tank for the last 18 months. Glenn was extremely nice in answering all of my questions and pointing me in the right direction when it came to specific employees that could assist me, including Paul P. My thoughts on purchasing fish is similar to getting a tattoo, you get what you pay for. I have purchased several fish in the past from this store and each time I have been successful, however if there was an issue with feeding or acclimating to my tank, I could email and within 12 hours (sometimes in as little as 1 hour) I would get a reply with thorough instructions. The owner even said that if the fish died due to shock or stress that he would replace them for me, every single time I bought a fish from them (5 in total). That is integrity and will always keep me coming back. If I am going to invest my time, I live in Staten Island, and my money in a new tank and all that goes with it, I want to be sure I am being treated with respect, and am being given all possible avenues to explore until I make my purchases. So far that have done what and I expect I will be a customer for a long time to come. I will update this review, or do another one, at the end of the summer once I have made my purchases for the new tank. Until then, I highly encourage anybody interested in starting a tank or adding to their existing one, to give them a call or stop by and see the place for themselves. I was there yesterday and I couldn't tell you how many times, I was asked for help, even after I spent an hour with Paul discussing my new tank as I was just walking around taking measurements. And the place was packed!!!! Thanks again for a...
Read moreIt’s June 2023 time right now is 6:15pm.I just drove all the way from middletown New York . I live in Kearny New Jersey I drove like a madman knowing that they close at 7:00pm I arrive at 6:15 pm customer walked out the store with two bags of fish. When I went to open the door , the doors locked. Workers still inside. Print on door showing closing hours is 7:pm the time now is 6:25 but they had posted a paper sign saying 6:30 I never noticed that sign . All I want is a small bottle of brine shrimp eggs The worker told me they just closed the registers.” I told him you still have a half an hour to go. Can you at least grab me one off the wall ? I don’t need to go in . I told him the print on the door says 7:00 PM and the time now is 6:25 PM he said sorry I can’t let you in we just close the registers. He did not have to let me in . He could of just grabbed one off the wall for me . I would of been more then glad to have given him exact cash and not worried about receiving any change . I find that is so disrespectful and Unprofessional . It’s a nice store . And at times I do drop some good money in that store . But Im done shopping there. What a every bad experience. At time some of the workers make me feel like . The only reason why they even talk with me is because is their Job . This is why when I walk in there I don’t even say a word. look around once I know what I want I find someone that can help me . And I make sure to buy what’s ever inside the tank just so I don’t have to be hovering over them . Asking to pick this one or that one . And I go grab a bottle of brine shrimp eggs . And pay without even looking to make sure that the fish didn’t get hurt during the process. And just leave the store. It doesn’t feel nice to have to walk into a establishment and not feel welcome. I’m done with...
