As a firefighter, I love visiting other departments, museums and memorials while I’m traveling. Colorado Springs does not disappoint. From the IAFF Memorial to this amazing museum with history of a department that has been providing top notch services since the 1800s, everything you would want to know was packed into a small room. It’s great that this stop can be 15 minutes, or 1.5 hours depending on how involved you want to be. It is self guided. There is plenty of parking. Admission is FREE. The staff is super nice and informative. Whether you like old automobiles, horse drawn carriages, or equipment from times gone by, they have it all. You can donate, buy books about the department/events, or get a department shirt. I wish staff was available for purchases, I wanted to add to my shirt collection. This isn’t a complaint, but a call for volunteers! They need the help and it is an amazing cause. Stop by and visit!

Excellent, my husband was promoted to Lieutenent 7/12/2023. The museum tells a wonderful history of Colorado Springs Fire Department from the start to what's going on currently. At the same address is the is the training head quarters for CSFD. The museum operates on a donation basis. Please be kind.

This museum is free but worth a lot, especially for anyone involved in fire fighting. It displays several antique fire engines including horse drawn types. Well worth the visit!

I'm a fan of all fire apparatus and visit fire museums everywhere I can. Colorado Springs fire museum is a "must see" attraction for residents and visitors alike. There are hard to find pieces here that are fully restored, fully equipped, and could roll out today if needed. I'm thinking of the fully restored steam pumper ready to be towed or hitched as it stands, the 1941 American LaFrance, and -- incredibly -- the 1924 Ahrens-Fox. There are many artifacts here showing the departments entire history. The unique feature to it all is that all the equipment shown spent their service life in the...

This is a fun little museum showcasing early firefighting equipment and methods through modern today equipment and methods. The kids wanted to touch and climb on all the old trucks and equipment, of course they couldn't but that would have been even more fun. But they learned about horse drawn fire trucks, steam driven, and then early motor fire trucks, along with a couple of photo props upstairs along with a cute little fire truck video player with a video all about fire safety. The only complaint the kids had was that the museum...
