As a firefighter, I love visiting other departments, museums and memorials while I’m traveling. Colorado Springs does not disappoint. From the IAFF Memorial to this amazing museum with history of a department that has been providing top notch services since the 1800s, everything you would want to know was packed into a small room. It’s great that this stop can be 15 minutes, or 1.5 hours depending on how involved you want to be.
It is self guided. There is plenty of parking. Admission is FREE. The staff is super nice and informative. Whether you like old automobiles, horse drawn carriages, or equipment from times gone by, they have it all. You can donate, buy books about the department/events, or get a department shirt.
I wish staff was available for purchases, I wanted to add to my shirt collection. This isn’t a complaint, but a call for volunteers! They need the help and it is an amazing cause. Stop...

But they learned about horse drawn fire trucks, steam driven, and then early motor fire trucks, along with a couple of photo props upstairs along with a cute little fire truck video player with a video all about fire safety. The only complaint the kids had was that the museum...
