UPDATE* This is the servers response. Son of the owner. The lack of customer service is lacking so much at this place.
This is probably the worse place I have been with. Beginning with service, we came in and sat down for a party of about 12 of us. The place was empty. I asked the server what time happy hour started and he said "I don't know there should be a bubble that says the time on the front of the menu" (there wasn't). I ordered a house marg that was actually really good. We then ordered our dinner. Some one in my party ordered a molcajete. When it arrived, it was missing half of the items listed. When I politely asked the server he said "well we don't serve it like that anymore". Due to his really bad attitude towards me I asked for the manager. When I told her the server was extremely rude she said well I am the owner and that's my son, I'll scold him later. The item was removed from our ticket but the plate was incomplete and not all that great tasting. I asked for a second margarita. It was served in a very broken glass and even spilling through the cracks. I ask for another. Manager/mom literally pours it into a different glass and hands it back to me WITH GLASS IN THE DRINK. I told her I would not be drinking it and did not want another. It was still on my bill when the bill arrived. At this point I no longer wanted to complain so I did not tell them about the fact that my 2 year olds meal was undercooked. It was left untouched. I have been in this industry for 16 years and hardly ever write bad reviews but this was such a horrible experience. Ambiance was off. You can tell this is the reason why the place is so empty. After a $300+ bill we left dissatisfied and will...
Read moreThis is the best little hole in the wall restaurant in the neighborhood. On the menu it says it's Cuban food but I am a Gringa and have no idea if that's true. What I do k ow is that every meal I have had there is delicious. Not only can you taste the home style of cooking you can taste the love put in each dish.
We started with questions at this last visit and both my date and I chose combos. Both of us received healthy portions of food and sides. I love their tamales and rellaños. Their house margarita is also delicious. They need a bartender though. We sat at the bar which had futbol on and were able to make conversation with another couple but it was a little loney without a bartender.
Our server was a young lady in her late teens or early twenties. She greeted us and sat us and served us so I got the impression she was the only server working. With at least four other tables in the place she was able to keep up with all of us and give excellent service.
The menu they use is fantastic. Everything is clearly labled and listed. They have beautiful photos of their food in the menu so you can see what you are ordering. I am a visual person and that helps me decide. And unlike those corporate nasty shacks, this place serves food that looks the same if not better than what is shown on the menu. They have a large variety of food and entre items. What is most surprising to me is how many different seafood...
Read moreIn pertinence to the, 6840 N Academy Blvd location. I went there with a friend. There was an issue with unspoken communication. I didn't particularly like the service I received, I would say it was kind of bare minimum, to be honest. Me an my friend received 2 different menus with different pricing, which is not good since I was paying and had the menu with the wrong prices on it. Luckily I noticed writing on an unused menu lying at the bar that I noticed prices were different and had to inquire about it to get the correct menu. We were told they only sold Pepsi products, but when I asked for Root Beer, I was told they only sell Dr. Pepper which isn't a Pepsi product, it's not a big deal but when it comes to service it was an unnecessary hiccup in the process. When it was time to order my friend wasn't ready to order, but I was and verbally expressed this several times, to which it appeared as if the server was ignoring me, I almost said "forget it" and walked out. Once the food came, it was ok. The appetizers are weird because they sell dipping sauce separate from the chips, which I guess is understandable but it was strange for me. Also, please take into account I'm from the South, and I'm not sure if the hospitality gets better...
