Read moreThis is a nice venue, but if you're attending a show here, be sure to wear a hat with a brim! The lighting design for the shows here needs some help. The blinding spotlights should never cross the eyeline of the audience, ever. I enjoyed the venue and the show, and most of the lighting design was great, except for constantly being blinded by spotlights. I took a basic course in stage management in college, and one of the things we learned about lighting design was to keep the spotlights focused on the stage. The purpose of a spotlight is to illuminate the stage, not to blind the audience. Last night, my table was beamed so many times that I started to get a headache, and so did the other people at my table. Thank God no one was epileptic; otherwise, we might have had a seizure to deal with.
When your staff has the time, place them throughout the theater at different tables, levels, and seats and run the show lights. If anyone has to squint, close their eyes, or look away, make an adjustment. If anyone gets beamed or blinded, readjust the offending spotlight. It's that simple. In the basic stage management class I took ten years ago, you would have failed lighting design.
People pay money to come here, enjoy a show, and have a good time, not to get a headache. Getting high-beamed on the road is one thing—nobody likes it! Well, guess what? They don't like it sitting in the audience either. Please fix the lights, and I will rate this place as one of the best venues in the Springs. Thank you for your time and consideration in...
Read moreLast night at Boot Barn we went to see the Rocketman Elton John tribute. We had the misfortune of sitting at a table with a group of 4 that included an extremely obnoxious guy that would not stop talking in a loud voice well into the performance. We could barely hear the show. Once I realized he was not going to stop, I stepped away and spoke to our excellent server CJ. He immediately told us the show was sold out, but he would talk to his manager to see what they could do (if anything). We were willing to stand for the entire performance rather than sit with the rude people who couldn't care less about the show they were ruining for us. CJ came back with Julie, and she said she couldn't do much because the show was sold out. We told her we understood and would just stand at the back for the remainder of the 3 hour performance. Julie left and soon came back with a solution and seated us even closer to the stage! Not only did CJ and Julie repeatedly apologize profusely, they sprang into action and solved the problem better that I ever expected. Julie even brought the General Manager Shay over during the intermission, and he apologized! None of this was Boot Barn's fault, but they apologized anyway! They then went far beyond my expectations to assist us. Not only is Boot Barn the best live music venue in the city, the customer service is truly the best I have ever seen. I would give more than five stars...
