As a small business owner I expected more from this place. They recently partnered with another small business for a Steampunk event. They made fliers saying the event was from 6-9 pm and they, very rudely I might add, announced they were shutting the lights off at 8:45, promptly shut the lights off at that time, kicking everyone out, to include the business they were partnering with, and then told people in the parking lot "we can't leave until you do or else we'll have to lock you in, so hurry up."

When I went to pick up my wife, as she was one of the models working there, I was stopped at the gate, almost not allowed entry, and then told I needed to hurry up, even though I arrived at 9:01 pm. When I got down to the building some guy was honking at me in his car, asking if I needed anything. When I said no he said "okay then please leave" and had an extremely rude tone as if I was just loitering.

I will not even give this place a chance as a customer seeing how they treat other business that are just trying to mutually...

The Western Museum of Mining & Industry is a museum at 225 North Gate Boulevard in Colorado Springs, Colorado, dedicated to the mining history and industrial technology of the western United States. The museum was founded in 1970, and has been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums since 1979.[1] It is open to the public Mondays through Saturdays. The museum building houses antique mining equipment and steam engines.[2] Some of the pneumatic machines are connected to compressed air so that they can be viewed in actual operation. The museum also includes a recreation of an old assay office[3] and scale models of mines and mills.

Outdoor exhibits include live burros, a steam shovel, and an operating stamp mill for gold ore.[4]

The museum maintains a research library on mining topics, available by appointment.

Other activities at the museum include lectures, rotating exhibits, and a twice-weekly...

I went here on a Saturday and was able to catch the 1pm tour. Our tour guide Ryan was very informative, engaging, and humorous! We walked through the entire museum, and he highlighted the different topics in a digestible and conversational way. I ended up walking through the entire museum again after the tour ended to read all the little text snippets that we walked past. (Don't worry about missing any details; I came to realize that our guide in one shape or another included all the information in his tour!!) I definitely recommend going to the museum during a tour time! During the tour some of the machines are also turned on which is very impressive to see in action! There is also lots to see outside, so you can easily spend 20+ min walking around. If you're like me who went during the winter, make sure you're bundled up so you don't want to...

I really enjoyed the museums, especially the old engines rigged to work on electricity and compressed air, and all the moving models of various mining equipment. The folks there obviously love what they do, and it shows in how well kept up the machinery is, and how knowledgeable the staff is about the ins and outs of operating it. The only weird part was, the tour guide kept trying to work conservative politics into the descriptions of mine modernization. My personal favorite was the claim that prohibiting child labor in mines was government overreach that led directly to runaway inflation. By all means, get those kids back underground for 12 hour shifts 6 days a week, and death at 25 from dust inhalation is better than they deserve!
