Tenderfoot Hill — Attraction in Colorado

Great hike! The trails are wide, with Gravel. Not busy during the week in late August. We passed a few bikers, and hikers with dogs. The trails were well maintained & marked. Going up here was so much fun! We went in a car. We went up, up, up! It was a little scary, but fun too. The view from the top was excellent. We could see the whole town of Salida. It was so cool up there. The dog and I ran up the steps to the lookout room. There was graffiti, but most of it was silly. I wouldn't say any of it was really vulgar. I had so much fun. A must-hike in Salida to conquer the S that hovers above town. We took the car up Spiral Creek Drive as far as we could go and then hiked the rest of the way (only 15-20 minutes). The views from the top of the Upper Arkansas River valley, surrounding peaks, and town are beautiful. It's a short, easy jaunt suitable for families and dogs, with a wide roadbed leading all the way to the top....
