Great hike! The trails are wide, with Gravel. Not busy during the week in late August. We passed a few bikers, and hikers with dogs. The trails were well maintained & marked. I Used the All Trails App. & posted a screenshot. We Drove up halfway, to Heritage Mountain, and parked. There was a porta~potty, mutt mitt station, as well as posted info & the history. All of the views are breathtaking! Highly recommend doing one of the trails, to the top of the mountain peak!

Going up here was so much fun! We went in a car. We went up, up, up! It was a little scary, but fun too. The view from the top was excellent. We could see the whole town of Salida. It was so cool up there. The dog and I ran up the steps to the lookout room. There was graffiti, but most of it was silly. I wouldn't say any of it was really vulgar. I had so much fun. This is one of my favorite places in Salida.

The views from the top of the Upper Arkansas River valley, surrounding peaks, and town are beautiful. It's a short, easy jaunt suitable for families and dogs, with a wide roadbed leading all the way to the top. Highly recommend!
