We recently visited your restaurant today, Saturday, June 15th, with a group of 7 adults and 7 kids. The adults were seated at one table while the kids were at another. The children finished their pizza quickly and needed more slices. While the adults were still eating, a server (not the one who took our order) came by and cleared the children's plates, stating to us that other guests were waiting for the table so they were going to move our kids out. I informed the server that we were still eating and that one of the children was waiting for another slice.
Despite this, the server brought the children's slices we were still waiting on to our table and repeated that people were waiting with an annoyed tone. We were not lingering; it is common for kids to eat faster than adults. Additionally, our kids were getting up from the table to watch the rafting events while eating, which might have contributed to the perception that we were taking up the space for too long. However, as stated, the adults were still eating. If we had been seated at a 14-person table, I highly doubt this would have happened. We didn't even have our bill, so we couldn't rush to exit even if we tried.
I want to emphasize that the gentleman server who assisted us was amazing. He was very attentive, taking our order, asking what our kids were allowed to order, and ensuring everything was perfect.
Unfortunately, the experience was marred by the other female server's approach. Despite knowing that the adults were upset with her handling of the situation, she still brought the food directly to our table without any concern over not clearing the children's table. She even brought the wrong type of pizza for my son (pepperoni instead of cheese). Unfortunately, he is picky and would not eat that. When we mentioned that we ordered cheese, she left without saying a word. We overheard her making a snide comment to the kitchen staff, which was quite unprofessional and disappointing.
I also want to state that we visit Salida, particularly this pizza place, every year during our camping trip. We have always had a great experience and wonderful food. Every single adult at our table was taken back by her tone and customer service. I personally have a lot of patience with service as I have been a store manager for over 16 years and now own my own business. I understand that customers can be rude, demanding, and hard to handle. At no point were we any of those things. However, we were treated so rudely in front of other customers that it got awkward.
I hope this feedback can help improve the dining experience for future customers. Unfortunately, I do not think any one of us...
Read moreThis review is for the pizza by the slice on the 1st floor. I gave a bad review in AZ as the worst slice and sadly this one comes really close. Dear owner NEVER use the name NYC style when you're serving pathetic near cheeseless slices that's so transparent I only saw red from the sauce and at $6 that's an outrage since you're in the heart of the best places steps away. I'm sure if we walk upstairs and buy a $20 pie it'll be better. But after getting such a sad excuse of a cheese slice I wouldn't even make the effort since I'm told it's the same owner top & bottom. Yes you'll pay $6+ in NYC or more but it'll be loaded with fresh visible white cheese. I was almost going to ask how old the pie was since it was so Dried out. And to leave a lady alone selling cheese or pepperoni without giving her any extra cheese to top these 3rd world slices I question your whole mentality when this spot represents the amazing place upstairs. Get it to together, you're already a rich man so Please spend the extra 33 cents to make them all look decent. NYC style, Ha. Hilarious and an outright LIE! (If you care about our health a little maybe offer a mushroom veggie slice as well. Not all of us are looking for an oily heart attack pepperoni style). As for your request for me to come upstairs means you could care less about fixing the problem downstairs for the people that just want to enjoy a single flavorful slice. Currently they aren't worth 50 cents, but your happy since the smucks have no other choice in the area. Good idea have me spend $30 upstairs since there will never be anything worth a dollar...

A Culinary Gem in Salida – Pizza Rio Delivers!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
From the moment we walked in, Pizza Rio made sure our dining experience was top-notch. We started our meal with the Burrata appetizer, which was nothing short of a mozzarella masterpiece, delighting us with its creamy texture and rich flavors.
For the main course, we chose the "sage pizza" on a gluten-free crust. This pizza was a revelation with its perfect blend of savory herbs and a crust that was both tender and crisp – no easy feat in the world of gluten-free options!
To complement our meal, we tried the "Row Me" vodka drink, a refreshingly summery beverage that was the perfect balance of zest and sweet.
A special shoutout to Nara, our server, who was not only delightful and fun but also exceptionally helpful. She made our visit even more enjoyable with her attentive service and great personality.
