Hayden Run Falls Park — Attraction in Columbus

I went here yesterday with my girlfriend, her roommate, and their dogs. The parking was awful and had very limited spaces so people were parking in grass and in areas you technically couldn't park. There is a handicap parking spot available but this location is absolutely not handicap accessible and had a series of stairs that could pose a problem for elderly people as well.

The park has a long boardwalk-like walkway to a lookout where you can view the waterfall, it is not easy to access the water (clearly the intent). We climbed over and picked the dogs up through the side of the walkway and were able to let them play. If your dogs really dislike water, I highly recommend not bringing them here. There isn't much space and the single area where people were swimming was fairly littered and busy with families.

The scenery is pretty nice, but the crowds and roadways nearby make it difficult to have that "inner city escape" I was anticipating. I do photography and can say this isn't the photo opportunity you'd expect, but the place isn't awful by any means. Could certainly use some cleaning of the trash and debris around the creekside.

The parking lot is quite tiny, easy to miss, and not marked as Hayden Falls Park. I am confused as to the necessity of handicapped parking spots because anyone who is wheelchair bound or needs a cane or walker for mobility is going to struggle with access to the ravine approximately 50 - 60 wooden steps down after 4 concrete steps up. Once at the bottom however, the abundant foliage (at least on a June week day) provides plenty of shade. Shallow (at least today) rivulets flow toward the Scioto River, a cool, refreshing habitat for land animals and water fowl. The falls are gorgeous, and mist the 30 - 40 feet to the platform. I wish we lived closer to see this in four Ohio seasons. I can only imagine how different this park appears in fall or early spring. Don't miss this when you are in Dublin or Columbus, OH. Review addressing accessibility

Impressive waterfall for being in the city. It’s a short distance to the falls, but it is not an accessible trek.

The parking lot is very small and on the side of a busy road. I could see larger vehicles struggling to navigate the parking lot. The lot was almost full when I visited.

The parking lot immediately leads to 3 flights of wooden steps. There are landings between each flight with room to rest out of the way.

Once down the stairs you’re on a long deck structure with sides & railings the rest of the way. It’s not a very wide path (see image). The deck itself is pretty slippery in many areas because it’s so misty/humid down there.

I did not see any benches or areas to sit on the deck, though the railings felt sturdy enough to lean on.
