Hello I'm Karen Strickland. My friend Sarah gearhart and I booked a complete spa day for her birthday in February. We went to the Polaris one and it was the worst experience I've ever had at a salon. I just figured out how to leave a review so here it goes. Firstly they had another woman and I mixed up for a facial because we share the same first name so halfway through the facial they yanked me out the room and gave the right person her facial. Then the massage was the best part for me but the lady cut my friends massage 20 minutes early which was supposed to of been an hour long. But the lady who did mine was the best ever! I'd definitely go back just to see her because she was great and best personality there out of EVERYONE. Then we went to get our hair done. My friend had 2 1/2 to 3 hr block for our hair. This was the worst part of it all. She wanted pink and purple highlights but the lady told her she couldn't do that and wasn't confident in doing it. So she then asked for a super bright red which the lady then said ok she could do that but instead my friend ended up with Orange Ariel little mermaid hair color. Then I get back to get my hair done I asked for black and bright red highlights the lady told me she wouldn't do it because it'd take up to 4-6 hrs to do my hair and I had to pick something else. Which I knew it didn't take that long to do. Then I asked for pink and black she told me no they don't do those fun colors although I saw a lady getting blonde and pink the next booth over so I then just asked for blonde and Carmel and chestnut highlights and was undecided still and the lady told me I had to hurry up and decide I had 30 minutes to decide and now I have 28 minutes because she had a 4pm appointment although I was blocked for her for 2 1/2 hrs with her. She then just put whatever colors she wanted in my hair and shoved me up a dryer telling me that she'll be back later. She then takes her 4pm appointment finish them comes back for me washes me out and when she cut my hair it was super uneven to the point of where I cried in the middle of red lobster because I was embarrassed sitting at dinner and my friends hair was very uneven too. We had to sit in a corner away from everyone because we were very embarrassed very upset with how we were treated and done after spending almost $500 there. They were rude and treated us like we weren't worthy enough to be there or something. I just don't understand how you asked us to spend that much money there to be treated without respect and we tipped everyone on top of it. The worst part is when we were checking out my friend was complaining to the cashiers then the manager walks up to cash other people out but never once acknowledged us or offered a discount or NOTHING. Then to top it off they were trying to over charge me for my hair when I really walked in and out looking the same. Needless to say I went to Kenneths 2 weeks later and they gave me the hair color I wanted and fixed my cut. But I'm just disappointed I got treated so rudely and NOTHING was done or offered to me to fix it. This store was highly talked up but ended up being less then what I was told it was. I doubt I'll ever try this salon again because of how rude everyone was towards us and the people who did our hair obviously has no clue of what they're doing or knows that you offer the colors we requested because we looked up to see if they did the colors online which we saw them. But very disappointed in my experience. I also called the next day to speak with a manager and was told she'd call me back but never received the call back either. Very...
Read moreI had a terrible experience with NIKKI last week Sept 3rd 2016. I made an appointment with Nikki for Saturday to have my hair completly colored a lighter brown to cover up some grey. Then I wanted a balayage/ombre of a even lighter brown. I was scheduled to see Nikki at 9am. I arrived a little early and requested a nail appointment for my daughter. She went off to see her nail specialist. Nikki was almost 20 minutes late coming out to get me. It bothered me, but I blew it off and tried to have a good appointment. I explained to Nikki what I wanted. I showed her a few pictures of what I liked. I explained that I did not want to go blonde. I do not like streaks in my hair. I don't like the way it looks. I also told her my hair is naturally curly but the curls have fizzled out. She seemed to understand. I was a little nervous because she had no examples of her work on her Charles Penzone profile. She told me she had worked there for 11 years and was a director, so I trusted her. My hair is a very dark brown. one step above from being black.
She started by bleaching the ends of my hair. Then she put foils on the top parts of my hair. After sitting for a while she washed it out and put toner on. She seemed rushed by 11am. I told her I had to leave no later than 12:30. I thought that was plenty of time to straighten my hair. She decided to style my hair curly and started putting product in my hair. She kept bunching it. Then she put me under the dryer for a while. The curls were not working. I could tell she was trying to fix it, but she said that a straightened style was not included in the cost... That's a first for me. She turned me around and what I saw I was not happy with. I told her I did not want the streaks and it was much to blonde. At that point she couldn't style it straight with a flat iron because too much product had been added and it was turning into a frizzy mess. She said she wished she could start all over... not what I wanted to hear. I got upset and asked her to stop touching me. I wanted to leave. She told me not to be so emotional about my hair. I was so angry with her at this point that I started to walk out. She walked me to the desk and told me I should wear my hair curly or the streaks and color wouldn't look right... hmm really? You mean your suggestion to fix the problem is to just wear my hair curly until it is fixed or grows out?? She gave me some more suggestions that only angered me more. I paid 188.00, sat for 3.5 hours for the worst color and customer service I ever received. I was set up with a same day appointment to get the color fixed for free... I saw Ivy in Dublin Charles Penzone, who was very understanding about the situation. She did her absolute best to fix my hair color. She toned down the blonde and remove most of the blonde streaks at the top of my head. She didn't have time to really fix my hair, but I appreciated her efforts. In the end it was just still too blonde for me. I went to Salon Lofts with Jodi Smith. She fixed my color and gave me the natural looking balayage that I asked for the first time! Overall, I will never go back to Charles Penzone. I would not suggest seeing Nikki if you want anything challenging done to your hair. She was either not listening or doesn't know how to properly balayage/color hair. In a perfect world I'd get my money back for a waste of time...
Read moreVery disappointed with Penzone’s, particularly the Polaris location. I had an appointment this morning for a curly cut and when I arrived and went to sign in , my name wouldn’t come up on the check in kiosk. I went to the customer service desk where an employee was on the phone with another guest, which was fine, and a little later a person (who I believe is one of the managers) came out and asked how she could help. I let her know I just needed to check in for my appointment and she said that there had been a water main break and all appointments before 10 were cancelled. I understand that things like this happen and that is ok, but why didn’t someone call to let me know my appointment was cancelled? I planned my whole morning around this appointment. I asked to reschedule and she let me know the stylist I wanted to see was booked for the next week. I am starting a new job in 2 days so I really wanted to get my hair done before my start date. She then offered me an appointment for 2 hours later with a different stylist. Since I actually live closer to the Dublin location I asked if she could see their calendar and possibly book me with someone there. She sighed and reluctantly asked me what service I needed to which I replied a curly cut. She booked me at that location and without apologizing or saying anything else welcomed the next guest in line up to the counter. I got in my car and received an automated text confirming the updated appointment at the Dublin location for a haircut. My concern was that it was a regular haircut and not the curly cut I had requested initially. I called the customer service line and spoke to someone who did confirm I was booked for a regular cut and not the curly cut. I was ready to just go with it but honestly that’s not what I wanted. I don’t mind spending money on an expensive haircut but I figured I should at least get the service I want. I asked if I could cancel and the employee curtly said yes. A couple seconds later she let me know it was canceled, I said thank you and she hung up without another word. Both interactions were not examples of the usual great service from Penzone’s. I have been come to Penzone’s for years, but I think I am going to move on. I have an appointment at Kenneth’s tomorrow hopefully their...
