I do not recommend coming here they stereotype you the second you walk through the door the guy with long hair and pony tail is a racist first off my wife and I were excited to get a new friend to the family we walk in and immediately a cat engages me I pick her up he tells me not to pick up the cat and engage them and to ask him first and said obviously we haven’t been there before, I said yea we haven’t so can I pick her up then he says no she doesn’t like it she’s finicky but yet she’s the one who engaged me we then start roaming and we find a cat who we felt picked us and adopted us as well as we wanted to him everywhere we went he was right there lurking telling to us sanitize hands between each cage as we pet the cats so we got a room with the cat we wanted the female was nice but at the same time we felt they were doing everything they could NOT to let us leave with a cat they wanted my landlord information they wanted my esa letter from my Dr for emotional support they wanted my vet info for my dog and cat we already have we have to make sure they were UTD on shots they were doing everything to blow us out the water so we just left they pick and choose the second you walk through that door DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to deal with Egor from rocky horror picture show he is very rude and a racist if they don’t like you you aren’t leaving with that cat yea they cats are cool and environment clean but when you got people like that working for you your cats aren’t going to get adopted by an actual loving family they are your typical Clintonville BLM racist liberals and if you aren’t one of them just don’t come here I would suggest the humane society in Hilliard off Scioto Darby or there’s one in Powell also they don’t ask for your landlord information or anything except a loving family or get one for free on Facebook groups and set your own vet appointments...
Read moreThe cats are clearly very loved and cared for, not only by the staff but the numerous volunteers as well, however the human interaction is nonexistent. I came in five or six times to try and bond with the right cat, and after that last visit, the head vet told me that my approval "was a mistake". The rejection itself is not the issue; if a vet tells me it's a bad idea, I respect that they are more knowledgeable than I am. The issue is that I had explained my situation to him the first visit, got my adoption waiver approved, and already bonded with a cat before he decided to inform me that I could not adopt. I ended up going to a different shelter where the service was much friendlier and willing to assist me in adoption. Not only was their adoption background check much more thorough (and they had long discussions with my parents and other references), they also communicated with me the entire time online and in-person. I was looking for an ESA to bring to college with me my sophomore year in New York, as I struggle with multiple anxiety disorders and spend most of the day inside my dorm with roommates I know and trust. The cat would spend 8 months in a dorm with us, and 4 months in my home with my family and other cat. None of my roommates or family members are partiers, the cat would not have excess alone time, and as an upperclassman I understand the constraints of my school schedule. After I said I was a college student, the vet did not ask for any of this other information like other shelters did. I understand being hesitant to give cats to young traveling students, however there was no communication at all until after I had already spent a lot of time and money buying supplies to care for this cat I had already bonded with. There was no offer of communication with my college or family like with the other shelter. I just wish I hadn't wasted a...
Read moreThe issue with this place started when someone left an injured cat outside my apartment complex at 8 am (I suspected it was run over) and I spent all morning trying to contact anyone who could care for him. I finally find this place, only it doesn’t open until 11 am, and they don’t take walk ins, you HAVE to call ahead a set an appointment. This was the only place willing to take him. I called as soon as they were supposed to open, and got the rudest woman on the line. She immediately had an attitude like I was wasting her time (this is literally her job??) and spoke like I was an idiot, and this was before I could even pry out the info that they would even accept an injured cat. After this she asked when I would bring the cat and I said it would have to be about an hour because I don’t have the means to transport a cat on short notice, and her response was to guilt trip me and make me feel like I was a monster just because I couldn’t bring the cat right then (I have no way to catch and transport a cat to begin with, and picking up an injured animal is not only dangerous for me because of bites and scratches but could also harm the animal more, something she did not seem to care about at all). The entire experience was awful enough to begin with, and this woman made it even worse. I’ve never felt sicker after a conversation like that. The cat ended up running away after it was spooked by some neighbors and I lost the chance to even begin to help it because I had to scramble to try and find something to transport it and take it to the shelter. I will never trust this place after all of that, and now I have to sit with the guilt and anger that I could not help this animal. And reading all the negative reviews after the fact makes me think he wouldn’t have even been helped if I HAD been able to bring him....
