This is the home of the worst salesman I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. He followed us around the store while we tried to look at furniture - which normally I wouldn't mind, because he is a salesman just trying to do his job, but he was relentless. I felt pressured to make a decision with him breathing down my neck.
When I finally made a decision, he tried to upsell. "Okay, so how about that queen mattress set you were talking about earlier?" (no such talk of that...trying to upsell) He also said that he would throw in 2 lamps for free with the end table set that we were buying - great!
The minor salesman annoyances like upsells and following me around wouldn't have been so bad if not for the absolute wreck that occurred when we checked out.
He sold us on the warranty saying it covered pet damage - then, after he swiped my card, let us know that it doesn't cover cat scratching. What?? Then what pet damage are you talking about?? We told him to cancel that sale and take off the warranty. Then, when he swiped it a second time, we noticed that he had only given us one lamp for free when he had said that he would throw in two lamps for free. When we pointed it out, he said that he never said he would give two lamps for free, only one - which was an utter disbelief, as we had all heard him say TWO LAMPS and we are not hard of hearing!!! Finally, the third time, after we had him take off the warranty (which he lied about) and the lamps (which he lied about), we left.
Oh - and my furniture was out of stock, which isn't a big deal. The salesman personally guaranteed me that it would take 2 weeks, as he knew for a fact there was a truck coming in with my product on it. Great, I can wait two weeks. Except, there was some sort of delay, which ends up putting my delivery out an extra two weeks. This is likely unrelated to him, but it just adds to the pile of "bad experiences" with this store.
I know the furniture is tempting for the price. And I know that this may just be this one salesman and is unrepresentative of the whole store. However, I would caution people to stay away from this location and specifically from the pushy, typical salesman - who will remain unnamed. When it comes to sales, I would say that HONESTY is the best policy - don't try to pull the wool over on your customers' eyes to get an extra ten bucks in commission. Instead, be real and ensure you have a customer for life.
I will note that I went to the Hilliard location and had a much better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI apologize for not sending this in sooner as we bought our furniture on October 7th. We went to Columbus to look for some new bedroom furniture for our daughter. We live an hour away in Mansfield and there are very few furniture stores, so we drove an hour to Columbus. We went to 3 "higher end" furniture stores before going to American Freight. The first one the sales person just pointed us to the bedroom section and we never saw anyone again. The second, the sales person walked us to the section, told us to let him know if we needed anything and then came back to check on us while eating a bag of corn chips. Needless to say, we left the store. So we decided we would try one more to see if it would get better. Wrong again. No one even acknowledged us as we entered or left the store. So we decided to give up and go eat somewhere. As we were going to the restaurant, we passed American Freight. My husband pulled in and said let's give it a try. As soon as we hit the door, we were greeted by a sales person, Johnny. I asked where the bedroom suites were and he said one second and he would take us back there. (the store was rather busy). I said we would just look around and headed towards the back. A second later, he was right with us and said no way was he going to let us go without him. He took us around, showed us everything, explained the differences and then gave us some time alone to make any decisions. He came right back to check on us. He had a couple of customers at the time. We decided on a bedroom suite and he took us over to go through mattresses. I know it is his job to sell, but at no time did I feel rushed or pressured to make a purchase. He listened to our concerns, and was very genuine in his responses. You can tell he has spent time learning about his business. The items were for my 12 year old daughter and he included her in every decision. I have been in retail for over 20 years and Johnny's guest service skills are very hard to find. We purchased our furniture from him, not because it was the best we had seen that day, but because the service was the best we had received. I can honestly say that had we been treated the same way we were at the other furniture stores, we may not have made a purchase. If your company does any recognition for the employees, this is definitely one employee that should be recognized. I can assure you we were not the only guests that are receiving this kind of treatment. Thank you Johnny for a wonderful...

DAY 1 - NEISHA (Customer Rep) was condescending while we asked her for options/ discounts etc. Finally got over that and purchased 3 sofas for $1934 ( after discounts)
DAY 2 - Delivery day - had to call them up 2 times before getting any confirmation and again lot of irritation from Front Desk representative. Delivery happens ( Sofa and Loveseat are not the same color) - paid $90 to delivery guys- I call them the 3rd time and request an update to get the correct color delivered. No good response - this time KAYLA picks up the phone and rudely hangs up despite our frustration with the wrong delivery.
DAY 3 - I had to go to store to request for a refund because of the constant wrong information provided by front desk ( KAYLA and NEISHA). They get loud in front of all customers and start using condescending tone( AGAIN). NEISHA says she s the manager and she cannot issue a refund. (ACTUAL STORE MANAGER in the end was SCOTT) - Despite delivering the wrong couch, and not having the right color match available, the lady doesn't provide a refund and keeps telling us that ALL SALES ARE FINAL. After making me wait in line for 1 straight hour ( Attending to all customers who came after me), talking disrespectfully about me to others, finally attends my request and says she cannot do anything and that they found the correct color match loveseat. ( Positive - she gave a $250 credit for the inconvenience caused). Finally we agreed that the couch will be delivered the next day.
DAY 4 - Guess what??? The color dint match again. I recorded a video of the actual delivery guys confirming that the colors don't match and also it was a totally different Loveseat. This is to keep proof and file a case against these guys. SCOTT, their manager - who finally accepts that it was not correct and issues a refund, but refused to issue $90 refund for the delivery that I paid, even though there was NO MISTAKE OF OURS.
POSITIVE - Nick, a young front office rep, helped getting us the refund, was polite and looked to genuinely help. ( Nick, please find work somewhere else, there are better places for people like you).
PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY STUFF FROM HERE. THEY ARE ABUSIVE, THE STUFF THEY SELL IS ABSOLUTE BAD QUALITY, THEY OVERCHARGE FOR DELIVERY FOR SOME CUSTOMERS ( NEISHA offered delivery to another customer for $60 right in front of me). Service they provide is...
