My husband and I had just finished the tour at the Biltmore House, which was incredible, and wanted to go to the winery at Antler Hill village. I was pleasantly surprised by the entrance of the winery. I was expecting to just walk into a shop and have someone give you a sip of wine. Not so! The entrance brought us through a long tunnel under the old dary barn where we were greeted with beautiful, old stone walls and archways. Along the tunnel were posters describing the history of the dairy barn and the process of making wine in the oak barrels. Then we went up the steps at the end and we're greeted with an employee who lead us into a tasting room. It had several elegant bars and the lighting was lower which created a sophisticated, relaxing atmosphere. We were then greeted with our wine pourer, Abdul. He was very welcoming and helped us find the best wine for our tastes. It was such an enjoyable and educational experience. We went home with two bottles. They were wonderful! Afterwards, we enjoyed an ice cream Sunday at the Creamery in the village. I don't think I could have had a...
Read moreWe love that with our membership we can visit here any time. We can even bring a guest after 5p. We usually wander through the winery’s shop and enjoy their samples of delicious dips (pretzels with both savory and sweet cream cheese dips).
Another big highlight for us is the museum which just gives you even more history about the family. They have quite a collection of pictures, but also clothing, China and a short film.
There are a few gift shops. We’re suckers for that stuff and find all of them to be quite fun to walk around.
There are also restaurants if you need to grab a bite. While all the menus look decent, we actually haven’t tried any of them.
Way off to the side is an area with barn animals - chickens, roosters, goats, donkeys, cows and ducks. My two year old boy absolutely loves it! As well as the playground and tractor he can climb on nearby. There are also picnic tables (and bonfires in the cooler weather). So this is definitely a great area for families with kiddos.
If you visit at Christmas time, there’s Santa! Such a fun time of year to visit and get some...
Read moreDon't waste your time. Unless you are coming here specifically for some of the activities offered (some sound cool) or to stay in the hotel, don't waste your time and money visiting the Antler Hill Village. We came after Biltmore house, expecting cute shops and food options. The vibe is more akin to an outlet mall or pre-event space at an outdoor concert venue.
Seriously - coming from the magic of Billtmore House and the Stable shops and restaurants, this area felt like it sullied our otherwise perfect day.
At the village level, there was no shade, and a lack of enough outdoor seating to accommodate the creamery and food truck. Restaurants at the hotel were a long walk away, Cedric's was closed mid-afternoon, and there wasn't a single shop that drew us in. The food truck was good, but overpriced.
If you've come to go to the Biltmore House -- eat at the house, shop at the house, and don't bother to trek down to Antler...
