I went to the fair as a kid growing up with my parents and it was always a lot of fun. I started going as an adult in 2013 and have went every year since. I don't think I will be going to it next year just because this year was really lame. They've now added additional wrist bands called "fast lane wrist bands" which basically for 10 dollars more you can cut in front of everybody to get on the rides. Not only is this unfair but it is also a poor design in my opinion. A lot of the rides and stuff are not setup correctly for this idea. Fast lanes sharing an entrance with the exit of those who just got off the rides and causes this traffic of people running into each other. It's crowded and unfair. I get you want more and more money but it's just not right to the poor people. I imagine a poor person who really wants to take their kid to the fair had to save up money in order to take them there. Now they barely get on the rides and get to watch other kids going on it 3 times and having fun by the time they got on the ride. I didn't find certain rides from previous years that I really liked and it was kind of a disappointment. It was an alright time but it could have been better. The entrance to getting in was over loaded because they are trying to encourage doing an online ticket purchase instead of at the gate. Which I think is kind of lame as well. Imagine going to a restaurant and you have money but then they say you can't eat there unless you download there app. I know that's not what they're saying but it's the same concept. All in all the 100 dollars I was not satisfied...
Read moreGot in for free on Friday. That was good. Monday was totally awesome with KTVB family day. I stopped by the KTVB booth and chatted with some of the staff. I bought an admission ticket before the fair and saved $2. Was not totally happy with most of the inside vendors and some outside on Friday when I walked around. I was mostly bored I didn't sense that much had changed from 2017. But then, that's just my opinion. I did like the apparel booths and some others. Your info booth people need to know what's going on when you have media day. Friday they didn't know where KBOI was. I found out just by walking around. And Monday, I think they knew where KTVB was. And if there is anything going on where KTVB was set up, they need to know each day who is occupying that space, booth. The fair doesn't accommodate the grandstand and try to get a Christian artist in for family day. I would like to see at least one of the stages host a karaoke machine and perhaps a contest in addition to having a booth set up all week. I would love to sign up for it as an entrant on your website before the fair. I've done karaoke contest. The host vendor could set up a booth somewhere near the stage and then occupy the stage for the actual contest unless their both was set up with a platform stage and perhaps some kind of seating, chairs, benches. Would the gazebo stage work for this? I hope anyone involved with the fair will take these ideas into consideration and perhaps act on them. God bless y'all and have...
Read moreDefinitely, the last year our family will be attending the western Idaho fair. It was the most uncomfortable event we have been to in a long time. The most disrespectful people, no security was present to help de-escalate any situation. Teenagers were wanting to play push each other while we were in line for rides. We asked for them to simply stop and were verbally attacked for about 10 minutes as well as pushed many times after asking to stop. We had nowhere to go, there were people in front of us people behind us, and we were locked inside the gated area for the ride. And again there was no security around to de-escalate the situation. I am learning to bring my pepper spray to places like this because it’s the only form of safety that we would’ve had. I would have undoubtedly sprayed this group of people if I did have it on me at the time. If the Western Idaho fair can’t figure out how to turn this around, I can see this whole event being shut down within the next few years. Knowing some people that work in law-enforcement, it sounds as if they have received a lot of calls from the fair this year. People stealing from booths, spitting off of rides onto the people on the ground, throwing things stealing out of peoples bags and strollers. It sounds like this event just needs to...
