El Gallo Giro, is hands down one of the best Mexican Restaurants in the Valley. The food is fantastic and the environment and service is always friendly and inviting.
The true reason for this review however, is to highlight their catering service via their taco truck. I recently was married, and from the beginning of the planning we both knew we wanted a taco truck to do the dinner service. El Gallo Giro's taco truck did not disappoint. We booked 10 month is advance, and had a couple different changes to guest counts in that time. Lucio and his team were more then accommodating in updating quotes and answering questions when they arose. When it came time for the actual event and dinner service, the truck arrived right on time fully prepared for what was agreed on. They checked in and worked well with our day of planner ensuring that the service was a success for the wedding party and all of the guests. The individuals working the event were complete professionals and went beyond that making us feel like friends and family. Treating our guest (even the more particular ones) kindly, adding in tasteful jokes keeping people in line laughing, and all around adding a friendly atmosphere to our event. I would highly recommend booking El Gallo Giro for your next event, but do it quickly! They book fast and for good reason....
Read moreI went to this place with great expectations due to the reviews. Let me say I have never been more disappointed. This place might of been a great place to eat, but now it has really dropped the ball. Beans and rice did not taste freshly made, boxed rice and canned beans for sure. I ordered a plate called el patron, it included an enchilada, Chile relleno, and tamal. The tamal tasted like it was bought frozen and just microwaved. The Chile might of been made fresh at one point but when it got to my plate it was nuked. The enchilada was probably the most decent item. The whole plate was covered in mixed cheese and microwaved. I also ordered some tacos. Those were ok but they can be improved a lot with just a couple changes. The fish taco was pathetic, it literaly a fish stick on a tortilla no sauce at all. We ordered a margarita when we noticed we went in during happy hour. My wife ordered a strawberry margarita on the rocks, its Kirkland premium margarita with strawberry sauce, I'm sure of this because I saw the bottle. In my opinion a restaurant should mix their own drinks and not buy already made items. I will save you the trouble of explaining the kids menu item we ordered. This place has great decor and maybe they were awesome at one point but now they just...
Read moreI ate at the one in downtown Boise on Main Street this past Tuesday. I was really hoping to be impressed. It was taco Tuesday so they had a Taco buffet. The food was good but the service was not. I waited at least 5 minutes behind another couple who had been waiting a while as well and yet none of us had even been acknowledged yet. We finally were sat down and then waited quite a while before being seen by the waiter. It was not busy so it shouldn't have taken that long. I opted for the buffet based on the chance that the service had already been slow so I didn't want to wait for my order. However, I had to request tortilla's as the tortilla bowl for the buffet was empty, they had 2 canisters for different salsa's but one of them was empty, the cilantro bowl was also empty. My friend opted to order his food and it finally came about 10 minutes before we had to leave. We arrived at about 1145 and left at 1220 His order came with salad, but they didn't give him any dressing. In addition, all he ordered were 2 tacos. Which means the tacos should not have taken that long to make since it was taco Tuesday. I assume the one in Garden city is much better based on the reviews and that it has been there for a long time. Hopefully the Boise one...
