I have mixed feelings about this one, but mostly positive. We drove 30 minutes from Nampa to Garden City just to try this place based on reviews. We purposely went after the lunch rush and arrived around 1:25pm but the place was entirely empty. No big deal, just an observation. It's located in a rather obscure area so much that you wouldn't know it was there unless specifically looking for it. The place was remarkably clean and the service was fast and friendly. I love that the meat they use there is locally sourced from the Thomas Cattle Company. My daughter ordered the classic burger and I got the hot pastrami sandwich. We also got a side of fried zucchini This is where the mixed feelings come in. Pros: Best French fries I've ever had. They tasted fresh, appeared hand cut, and had amazing flavor. I could eat them all day. Fries come with every sandwich. It was clear all the ingredients were fresh and good quality. Place was clean (as previously mentioned) Good fry sauce.
Cons: Pastrami was fresh and juicy but bland. I was expecting a bold and flavorful sandwich since everything is made in-house but honestly it was meh. The grilled onions on the pastrami sandwich were minimal and added nothing to the flavor. The mustard was all I could really taste. Burger flavor was the same, just meh. Soda options were limited. Not a big deal, again just an observation. Lunch for two people with tip was $42 and it was just so-so. (2 sandwiches, 2 drinks, one side of zucchini) plus the distance we traveled.
All in all it was worth trying at least once. The fries alone made the trip worthwhile. We love supporting local businesses and would still recommend this place even though it didn't totally meet our expectations.
Another observation is that all the tables have benches rather than seats. If you're dining with older people, may be a bit difficult for...
Read moreVery disappointed at the drastic change in quality! These pictures show the very same menu item 2 months apart: Pulled pork mac n’ cheese sandwich with fries. We always ordered this sandwich because it was not only made by the owner but he always made them super big and the mac inside was rich, creamy, cheesy and had a wonderful black pepper hit to it. They always used cavatappi pasta and the pulled pork had just the right amount of sauce in it.
The first two pictures are from July 29th and even still, I noticed the sandwich had been drastically downsized and I wondered if it was because the owner wasn’t present. Fast forward to yesterday and it was just an utter disappointment. There was hardly any mac and cheese and the worst part was that it tasted like they used Kraft Mac and cheese!!! It looked like the sandwich was made even smaller and there was just way too much sauce on the pulled pork. I had a hard time eating the sandwich because the little mac that was there made it just so unpalatable. The fries also tasted old and many of them were a tad bit overdone.
It’s actually heartbreaking that there has been a steady decline in the quality of food here because I LOVED this place and thought it had the BEST pulled pork mac sandwich but as long as it stays like this I am never coming back here. I hope the owner corrects this devastating mistake because they were so undeniably good a year ago.
Edit after owner response: I will definitely be coming back to share some tips and retry the sandwich because I genuinely loved it for the longest time. I bumped my review up by two stars because of your quick response and also because this sandwich genuinely used to be fantastic. Please go back to the cavatappi and the size the...
Read moreMy family was craving burgers tonight and the Hit List has been on our to do list for a while so we went! I ordered the single cheeseburger with an upgrade to zucchini fries. Everything about my burger was great! The meat was fresh (I heard it's locally sourced which is nice!), the bun was soft and cheese was extra melted. I just added a little ketchup and mustard and it was the best burger! My husband and I shared the chili cheese dog as well. The chili that comes in the dog is homemade. The zucchini fries had a great crunch and seasoning to it. When you're eating this food, you can tell whoever cooked it is passionate about cooking. Each item was presented so well and each bite was so good! If you're looking for a local burger joint to support, this is your spot! I also appreciate that the owner, Brad, who also supports other local businesses by promoting their businesses at his. We need more local support like his! We need more support like how Brad does!...
