I'm not the type to write reviews for businesses unless my experience is absolutely horrible, so the fact that I'm even taking the time to write this is extremely telling.
January 2025: I reached out to change my renter's insurance policy to the address of the new apartment I was moving into. I went back and forth via email and over the phone with Evan multiple times as he could not correctly update the address on the policy nor could he send me a correctly drafted declarations page. This simple request dragged on so long that I finally had enough and asked to just cancel my policy altogether so that I could enroll with another insurance company. Due to this cancellation, I was owed a prorated refund since I had originally paid for the policy in full and was cancelling mid-term. I was promised I would get this refund within 30 days of cancellation.
March 2025: I still have not received the refund. I reached out to Brad and he says they sent it to the wrong address. No idea how this even happened because I told MULTIPLE people MULTIPLE times that I have not been at said address for over a year. I provide the correct address and was told a new check was mailed out.
April 2025: I finally receive the prorated refund and thought all was well and that I was done with State Farm.
May 2025: I receive a bill in the mail telling me to pay an overdue balance. Confused, I called the office asking what the bill was for. At first, they said they did not see any outstanding balances from their end. So, I figured it was just sent in error. I was then given a call back a few days later, and I was told that it turns out there was a mistake made on their end when providing the check for the prorated refund, and that the amount on the bill should have been subtracted from the refund, but was not. Therefore I was being charged for it now. If it's an error on their end, I as the client should not have to pay for this. However, I was so fed up at this point that I just said I can pay over the phone and be done with it. I was then told that I could not pay over the phone and would have to mail in a check or send a money order, which is ridiculous. I asked if there's any way I can pay online or over the phone, considering it's 2025 and I can't remember the last time I met someone who uses checkbooks. Angela found a way for me to pay over the phone and I received an email confirmation that I had paid the balance.
June 2025: I thought I was finally done with this terrible company but once again I receive a bill in the mail for the exact same amount that I just paid in May for the "overdue balance." I honestly have no words at this point. This has been nearly a 6 month fiasco and I've had the worst and most unprofessional experience. How can a company as big as State Farm not even be able to do simple tasks such as properly updating addresses after multiple requests or tracking which payments have been paid versus are overdue. I'm at the point where I don't know what else to do other than leave a review of what I've experienced in hopes that they finally get themselves together and stop sending me bills for things I've already paid. I have ended my policy with them months ago at this point, so why am I continuing to get sent...
