I am a true blue, red blooded 100% Marriott guy. I own a Marriott timeshare, whenever I travel I always use Marriott, I am a platinum elite member, I would be a higher level, but the last five years of my life I have traveled significantly less than I used to.||Having said all of this, I always use Marriott unless nothing else is available. I never look for anything else other than Marriott and if I get stuck in Marriott is not available then I will go elsewhere.||I chose this particular hotel because it was relatively central to our location and we were culminating our event or rather our trip with an Atlanta Braves them, I’ll be baseball game to take place the last night of our trip and it’s literally walking distance from the ballpark to the hotel. Which made it very convenient after the game to just walk home, just under a mile and a very safe sit or walk.||Upon getting to the hotel, the staff were decent and kind, but I had done the Mobile check-in, our flight got into Atlanta just after 8 AM and fortunately due to my status we were able to get into our hotel room at 9:30 in the morning, which made it very convenient for us.||Nothing seems to be under construction here, but there was nothing really overwhelmingly great about the hotel. There is an outdoor pool, but it’s not open until memorial day and we are here in the middle of towards the end of April.||I am eligible for upgrades and I did ask for an upgrade and they told me that I already had one of the best rooms available and really that enough at this particular hotel is just a higher floor. It is a five story hotel and I was already in the fifth floor. They did tell me they had another room available for me, without any reason other than to offer me just a different room, but it was close to the elevator, and I had asked to not be close to the elevator due to the noise.||So I was put in a different room or rather my family was put in a different room and as it turns out, we were not next to the elevator, but next to the mechanical room and out of our five day stay here there were two days where we did have to spend time in the hotel until 2 o’clock in the afternoon, during which, at 7:30 in the morning, the hammering and banging and sighing, and I don’t know what else that was going on in the room next-door to us began.||It’s not an actual room in which people sleep, when the door is open, you could tell that it was clearly not a room with beds in it, but rather some sort of workshop. I’m not exactly sure if they were pounding out horseshoes on a forge or if they were drilling through concrete blocks with a hammer drill or what it was that they were doing, but throughout the day, it was quite a bit of noise. I have to imagine that maybe they were hand building hinges for the doors or doing some sort of blacksmithing or perhaps they had somebody’s car in there and they were doing bodywork on the car which must’ve included, pounding out a lot of dance, a lot of grinding, and a significant amount of hammering and making unbelievable noises. ||Marriott has a new sort of system where when you check in they ask you if you want housekeeping or if you don’t want housekeeping, something along the lines of making an impact or trying to reduce the impact on the environment. Knowing that we would be here for five days we did indeed ask for housekeeping.||We check out tomorrow morning and after having been here for five days, we haven’t been visited once. I did request towel service three different times and on three separate occasions I never received cell service. Finally after making a fourth call, I asked very kindly if they would kindly bring us some towels and switch out the other towels. I was not very happy with having to make four requests and I had to ask why it was that I never received any housekeeping.||On a separate note, I find myself in an interesting dilemma. I always make sure that I tip the housekeeping staff. I realize that this is a service industry and that The folks who are taking care of our rooms depend upon tips. I know that most people out there don’t tip however I do. I don’t need to get into how much I tip or what my process for tipping is, but the first day I left out a tip and we left the room at 9 AM, and returned at 7 PM and we had not been house kept. We did hang the towels that we expected to use again and the towels that we didn’t use, per that request and their signage we put on the floor is expecting them to be Changed out.||Housekeeping, of course, entails Other things besides just towels. We would have been excited to have some new bars of soap for our hands, and it would’ve been nice to have the sinks cleaned off, even though we did wipe them down and clean them out as much as we can, it would have been nice. It also would’ve been nice to have had the beds made, and in one case where there was a spill on the sheet, it would’ve been nice to have had the sheets cleaned or swapped out rather. My wife is kind of a fanatic when we are out hotels and does most of the housekeeping and makes it quite easy for those who come in to just sort of tidy up and other than taking out the recycles, the trash, wiping down the bathroom and the toilet, the sinks and refreshing us with new bars of hand soap, there’s not much to do.||Above I mentioned that there was a stain on one of the sheets and we left the comforter off, making sure that the sheet was clearly visible. Here I am in the middle of the night going to be checking out in just a couple of hours heading to the airport. After having been here five days, our room never got cleaned. Today we did receive new towels and in a mixup they actually brought us two stacks of towels, one stack would’ve been nice back in day two or earlier on that for some reason, we fell through the cracks. New paragraph Marriott is generally a pretty nice property and this particular property as I mentioned is less than a mile away and walking to distance from the Atlanta Braves ward. We saw that the hotel would be somewhat nice, but it’s pretty rundown. As I look through things, none of the outlets have been upgraded to include USB ports, there are actually only two outlets in the room for some reason and we were unable to charge basic essential devices.||In the bathroom, one of the drawers doesn’t open, but that’s OK because we don’t need a hairdryer, the knob that holds the sink closed is missing but again we didn’t need it. Just something that we noticed.||I probably should’ve paid attention to the booking, but there was no fridge, no microwave and no ability to get freshwater or cold water other than going down to the fitness center and getting it or paying for it at the pantry.||this hotel is definitely in need of an upgrade. I feel like I’ve stuck back in time with Marriott and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend you stay here.||I’m in this dilemma now about leaving a tip tomorrow morning or rather in a couple of hours. We did request housekeeping services again knowing we would be here for the number of days we were here and after the first day of not having to receive them, I made a phone call and asked for them and they said they would take care of it right away and no one ever showed. Again here we are day five, leaving and not once did we receive housekeeping services. The only thing we receive was two stacks of towels.||we do have a big pile of used towels that are sitting in the middle of the floor now, outside of the bathroom and in the main part of the living area. We put these out yesterday, expecting them to be picked up when they brought the towels. But when they brought the towels, they apparently didn’t feel it necessary to pick up our old towels. And now we know that they’ve been here twice because we do have two stacks of new towels, our old towels are sitting right in the middle of the floor.||Other things the bathroom door does not lock, the hinges squeak, I believe I mentioned that there are no outlets to plug anything in or charge anything, there is a small coffee maker, but there are no pods, there are no coffee cups, there are no amenities, such as stir sticks, creamer, sugar, or anything else that one would expect for a cup of coffee.||I’m not really sure if we were supposed to use the two glasses that were in the bathroom for the coffee maker but again there was no coffee to be made just a small coffee maker.||So if you’re coming to Atlanta and you’re going to a Braves game, you might want to avoid this one. If they do an upgrade to it at some point, it might be worth it but pricewise we actually could’ve stayed at a newer and better hotel and other than being close to the baseball game, we would’ve saved money, would’ve had an indoor pool for the kids, and I would assume we would’ve had housekeeping services.||So on a scale of 1 to 5, we are leaving with the one. Again, I am a true to the brand, Marriott man, but I am highly disappointed at the service, the noise, the lack of amenities, the things that are broken, and the lack of response to our requests.||Find another place to stay. Marriott, this...
Read moreEDIT to respond to GM's reply - You may want to train your staff on what to say then because they were announcing to the crowd about everyone having late check outs and that they overbooked the rooms. I understand it was hectic. I dont understand how knowing it was this booked there was no better solution to the crowd. If there wasnt everyone getting late check outs like they said then how was 4 hours not enough time to get rooms cleaned. I got my room 5 hours after the time I was supposed to. You have no problem charging full price for a room that could not be used for the full time it was intended to. No acknowledgement of the staff pounding on my door at 7am and not listening to me when I stated they had the wrong room. No acknowledgement of the rude staff who was acting like it was our fault or couldnt understand why we were frustrated. No acknowledgement of the fact there was zero parking because you blocked off a whole lot for a fraternity reunion with signs saying Fraternity (cant remember the name) parking only. Tried to get food and water from the fridge and offered to take a pic and bring down when I checked out in morning to be added and was told sorry you have to wait in line (45 minutes) No mobile key which would eliminate all of this mess to begin with (or at least the long wait later in evening for keys) but no mention of that. I understand it was busy I do and I have grace for that but that is your job to staff properly for that event and you failed. You made a killing on a fully booked hotel where 85% of the guests couldnt use their rooms for a good bit of the times they paid for and a staff that wanted nothing to do with making it better or accommodating for people.
Miserable experience this weekend. When a hotel is booked full Friday and Saturday because of a concert they should not allow late check out for the people who stayed Friday night. We pulled into hotel at 3 and there was absolutely no parking. I drove around the lots for 15 minutes hoping someone would leave. Finally found 1 spot that was flooded that nobody would park in and had no choice. Walked into the hotel to see hundreds and hundreds of people in line. Waited in line for over 1 hour and there was no rooms ready. The lady told us they allowed late check out and were overbooked and housekeeping was not able to keep up. We checked in online at 10am just to have it done however that didnt matter. whole family had to get ready in the lobby for the show. I think it was around 8:30 pm when we got a notification that our room was ready. We are Bon Voy members yet we couldnt get a mobile key. Came back from the show to then have to wait 40 more minutes in the line to get a key. Finally got into the room at 12:23am. at 6:55am a member of the staff came knocking on our door asking for a Michael. There was no Michael and they had the wrong room. They knocked over and over despite us saying no Michael was in the room and when I finally got up and went to the door did it stop and they realized they had the wrong room. The hotel rooms are a little dated but ok. The no usb outlets is something you dont ever see in hotels anymore so this one is definitely older. Location is fine but it is obvious this hotel cant handle a crowd and we will definitely choose other places for our stays in Atlanta. The Ladies at the front were a little rude acting as if it was our faults and all of us were a bother and how they couldnt understand why we couldnt understand that they are busy. The staff at 11:30pm were much nicer. I paid full price for a room that I could only use half the amount of time. We are members here and with Hilton. I will choose Hilton's from here on out as they always have mobile keys and online check in/check out without having to go to the front desk. I would stay clear of this place if there is an event going on. Many other hotels on the same street handled the crowds much better (multiple people canceled this hotel and went a couple blocks down...
Read moreWe stayed two consecutive nights at this hotel. Our stay purpose was for the aquarium and a Braves game. We booked through a third party that allowed a few small discounts. The services during the check in, breakfast, and after was great! The staff was nice and friendly. We appreciated that. Every staff member we passed greeted us. However- there were some things that really hindered me being able to give this hotel a better rating. One concern was that upon our first arrival, our hotel door was open… at first we didn’t think much but it certainly affected my trip as I started thinking “what if someone had come in between cleaning and our arrival and put something in the shampoo, stole the coffee pot, messed with our pillows, or worse.. was hiding in the closet or put a camera in?!” I know these are just thoughts but any of them are truly possible. I ended up not communicating this concern with the front desk as we arrived around 1 am after a 17 hour drive and were desperate for sleep. Once in our room, there were several very very dirty things. The hotel room was actually so dirty that before bed, my spouse and I personally removed the sheets to check for bugs because it felt like “that kind of room”. I included pictures of some concerns. AGAIN, we had just gotten in so my main concern was sleep and cleaning so I can sleep and I should have taken more pictures but I didn’t. There were boogers (I think) on the walls in the living and bathroom, there was some wiped away stain several places on the wall that was gross, dirty q-tips in the hallway, and some weird gross sticky substance all over the curtains that I stuck my hand in when pulling them back. Outside of cleanliness- the coffee pot was in the room but they gave a filter that was to small for the machine so in order to make coffee, you had to stand there the entire time and hold the plastic tray… The windows had finger print smudges all over it. The bathroom had no ventilation and was incredibly small. No trash bags were given and when we asked for some, they never showed up.. The room was a major disappointment and gave “off the highway motel vibes”.
Outside of the room, we went to the restaurant as well. Breakfast was a crazy price. It was about $20 a person and the food was limited to eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, small muffins, yogurt and some fruit. They said they were out of syrup and the coffee was somehow worse than the self holding coffee provided in the room. The food that was there was good but the selection was worth more like free-$5 rather than $20. We absolutely did not go there for dinner like we planned.
You also have to pay for parking?! That was ridiculous. After paying around $150 a night for a dirty motel room you had to pay $24 a night to park.
We ended up using the provided shuttle to get to a Braves game. The shuttle was quick and easy to use but the gentleman driving could not care less about being there unfortunately. (I don’t know if I can blame him though, it was hot and the van AC was horrible).
At the end, I ended up with additional “fees” and a “room charge”. This was AFTER paying for the rooms through the 3rd party. The price was absolutely ridiculous and not worth any part of the experience. $$$
I apologize for leaving this type of review. I don’t enjoy being unkind and I don’t think the staff should be punished or in trouble in anyway for this. I think the company is making some poor choices in using their name to make money and letting go of the quality care that should accompany the name.
Altogether, my spouse and I walked personally walked away and have chosen to try to forget this experience. We will not be...
