Let's start with first impressions on the lay out and flow - where to begin? When you enter, it's not clear what you're to do. Standing in part of a kind of separated seating area, you finally see a sign that says order at the counter, fine. But where's the counter? You have to walk a ways and then turn a corner before you see and continue walking to the counter. The entrance is in the wrong place. It should be where the counter, even if you have to walk a little bit, is immediately seen from and/or directly adjacent to the entry. When you do see the counter, naturally, you look above the prep staff's heads to see the menu before you approach. But, alas, there is no menu. You have to figure it out on your own that the menus are in a holder on the wall at the corner you just turned to get to the counter. There is a tiny menu on the wall by the trash cans, which are BEFORE the corner you turn to get to the counter, but it only lists daily deals. Like free side salads on Wednesdays or something like that. But, ok. You get your food and you go to find the drink fountain to fill your cup. It's not at all where you'd expect it. It's basically behind the desert counter, the dessert counter being an extension of the regular counter where you pay for your order. I mean NOone's going to think to go behind any counter to get anything. The flow is discombobulated. Unless you are a regular, you are left to figure this off layout on your own.
Now, their claim to fame is that your food is made fresh to order. Great! What's not to love, right? Their speed, or should I say, their slowness. We all know that fresh to order is not going to be nearly as fast as fast food, microwaved, or grab-n-go. Even still, in a "street food" establishment you are not expecting them to take the same amount of time to hunt, kill and prep the animal to prepare your order. All tongue in cheek aside, there is a level of pre-prep that should already be done like, lettuce already cut or shredded, veggies cut, meat seasoned. My sister watched them cut her lettuce. If you are fully prepping everything on spot, you are slowing down your flow exponentially. Pre-prepped does not mean not fresh.
On the ambiance - it went along with the layout and flow. You had 3 TVs that you had to turn your head to see and could only be seen by some customers. Two had soccer. One had Fox news. All were turned down. Which is to be expected. But what was confusing was that they had a music radio station playing the same ads over and over again causing you to keep turning towards the TVs because you kept expecting to see what the ad was and who was talking. Streaming ad free radio might be a better solution
On the actual food after all that? Meh, is how I would describe this over-priced, non-seasoned food establishment. Literally, NO seasoning in the veggie gyro I had. I will say, they have some of the best falafel I've eaten. But for $19? I get it, food is hyper expensive these days, like everything else, but my dish and my sister's dish, aside from an admittedly very nice presentation, left much to be desired in flavor. I could ignore the layout and ambiance (you can get used to a layout and you could always do take-out), even the slow prep time, if the food is exceptional. But, unfortunately, the food flavor was just as confusing as the layout and caused everything else to stand out. I would have to pass on this place. Especially for the price. Maybe I might get falafel if I happened to be...
Read moreOH MY!!! Yesterday was my very first visit to Zeus Greek Street Food. I was craving Gyros (yeroos) And then My Best Friend said that they stopped and got one for lunch 🙄 Which Only made me want it more.. Also glad they didn't pick one up for me or I wouldn't have had this experience. You can Smell the food before you go in (Always a good sign) It smelled Too Good! Atmosphere is Super Dope, Its spacious and inviting. I came for Lambchops, That's what I ordered. Those chops Where Pretty... And They were cooked PERFECTLY!😋😋😋. Nice Portion, They were Juicy w/ Thee Perfect Char on the outer crust and the Frenched tips,,, Yum!. The Fries Are A Super Hit, nicely seasoned, not overwhelming, Lacking Not a thing. The Pita bread was just right, toasty but soft and fluffy at the same time. And I didn't know just how much I was going to enjoy the salad,,, just the right balance of Freshness with the Lemons and Feta, it brighted up the meal flawlessly, those super juicy tomatoes and crisp bell pepper n onion. Not a huge olive fan as far as eating them 👀 in their original state but they were pretty, I'm putting them in a pepper juice mix for later. I've never had the brown ones. 💁🏾♀️. On another note, I would add a bit of mint to my oil and the tiniest pinch of salt to the chops when I cook them myself because of the gamey flavor of lamb meat in general. I can't hardly wait to try the baklava cheesecake, it looks Amazing, I didn't get it because I have snacks at home I need to finish but yeah,,, I'll definitely be back again,, and again. Oh yeah, they serve wine etc, My Best friend ordered a Gyro, they DEMOLISHED that thing! And they said it was Really, Really Good. O an I only gave the food 4 stars because it was my...
Read moreThe food I received was really good, but I’m a little bummed because it wasn’t exactly what I ordered, especially since it was my first time ordering from this restaurant. They were out of rice, so I got the option of grilled veggies or fries, so I went with fries because I already ordered the grilled veggies to try. Unfortunately I got the stewed green beans and potatoes (instead of grilled veggies) as well as more stewed potatoes, along with the fries. Although I appreciate receiving the extra potatoes, and this girl likes her potatoes, but I was definitely hoping for a little more diversity with this meal, especially since I originally ordered from Zoe’s kitchen and had to cancel my order because they were out of the two proteins I ordered, so decided to give this place a try instead. That being said, I looked at the reviews for salmon at this restaurant and saw no reviews, but went out on a limb to try it, and I will say that I am not disappointed whatsoever. I’m sometimes a little weary ordering salmon because it can be a bit fishy, but this was a perfectly cooked and mild salmon, so I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially with the tzatziki! I realize that the pandemic has been tough on restaurants, and especially one like this because they state that they order certain items from Greece, which is why I would be willing to order again. I hope to get the chance to try the items I originally ordered and then some; especially the avegelomono, dolmades,...
