TERRIBLE.. THEY SEND SPOLIED FOOD.. WON'T GIVE REFUNDS. BEING INVESTAGATED BY HEALTH DEPT & FDA. On November 19, 2020, I ordered a Turducken from Cajun Grocer and was charged $146.03. It arrived on November 25th in a sealed container with dry ice and still frozen.
The turducken smelled spoiled, but we still cooked it on November 26th hoping that we would still be good. Unfortunately, the turducken was spoiled, inedible and ruined our thanksgiving.
I left multiple messages on the Cajun Grocer voice mail from Nov 26th to the 29th and final received a response on Nov 30, 2020 from a lady named Stevie. She apologies and said that “they have received multiple calls from customers stating the same that their orders were also spoiled” she also stated “the hurricane that they had caused long term power outages and many items in their freezers spoiled” lasts she stated that “management is aware of the issue and will be issuing complete refunds”.
On December 3, 2020, I called back and talked with Stevie again and she said, “had over 15 complaints from customers regarding spoiled orders and waiting for management to issue refunds should be in 7-10 days.” On December 16,2020, I called again and talked with Stevie and she said, “management was overwhelmed with the amount of complaints on spoiled orders and it would take a few more weeks for a refund”. It appeared that I was getting the run-around.
On Jan 8, 2012 I called Cajun Grocer one more time in hopes on getting a refund. I talked with Michelle who was very rude, and said, “management decided not to give refunds due to spoiled orders.” I told her that was irresponsible, and I would be contacting the health department in her area and filing a complaint and she hung up on me.
I called the Metairie County Health department and filed a complaint against Cajun Grocer for selling spoiled and potentially dangerous food. They said that they would contact Cajun Grocer and starting an investigation...
Read moreWebsite wouldn't accept a payment from overseas, contact Cajun Grocer asking if they could do a transaction if I called them...received a reply from Cherie stating that they could. Spent the next two days trying to call and reach someone. Finally got through and explained my problem as I was only wanting to have some items shipped to my brother in North Carolina. Went through the whole order and got to the payment only to be told that I needed a US state...I had already explained that I lived overseas at the very beginning of the phone conversation and had an email from the customer service supervisor saying I could complete the transaction...was then told that she was "new" and didn't know how to complete the transaction. I asked for Cherie, only to be told thst she was on another line. I said that I would hold and wait for her...only to then be told that I couldn't hold as it wouldn't be fair to other customers who did not have any problems...!!!! She then asked for my number so Cherie would call me. After I gave her my home number, I was asked if that was overseas...and upon my confirmation was told that Cherie couldn't contact me (which I already knew) as it wasn't in the US...
I politely hung up, went to Hebert's website, ordered everything that I wanted from Cajun Grocer and paid with Paypal without any problems. No having to wait days trying to get someone to answer and not having to look for someone with critical thought and trouble...
Read moreMy husband ordered a gift basket for me for Christmas. The box arrived in good condition, but when I opened it there were coffee grounds all over the INSIDE of the plastic wrap surrounding the gift basket. There was a sizable split in the bag of coffee. Needless to say the coffee was useless and it was a mess to clean up. There was also a can of red beans in the basket that was badly dented in two places.
We let them know about these issues and asked what they could do to "make it right." They offered to either re-ship the damaged items or credit us for them. Since we're not big coffee drinkers, we asked for the credit. Just checked out account and they credited us $8.90. When I look at the website, the coffee and beans total $9.88, and that doesn't count tax and shipping. I think they should have been a bit more fair with the credit, and/or offered us something for our trouble (ever heard of a lagniappe, guys?).
I wanted to try some of the boudin and other products they sell, but I don't trust they would get here in good condition and, frankly, I'm not impressed with their customer service.
UPDATE: It just occurred to me that perhaps they only credited the coffee and not the beans, which is not what I thought they were going to do. I've always heard not to eat food from dented cans. Guess we'll just eat the cost of them instead, not to mention the shipping, which my husband said...
